But we are the ones advocating for sanitary pads to be made free, yet we are happy that it costs 25k. See Scotland, free sanitary materials for girls and women. See Kenya,they eliminated tampon tax and has been sharing free pads for public school girls since 2018. Botswana, free pad for all school girls. Yesterday it was seafood akara, today it’s luxury menstrual care kits. Let’s keep deceiving ourselves.

You see this pad issue, I feel everyone’s opinion is valid. Can I afford it monthly? No My Virony lasts me for more than 3months. But if my niece was having her FIRST period, getting her this box would be a thoughtful gift. Just a one-off purchase, I’m sure she’d feel like a princess and never forget it. Also, I don’t think Pads should become a “LUXURY” entity. It should be made more affordable for the girl child.

@Egokuwait I have been holding myself from this topic cos it's her business but let me tell you something, I usually buy full pack of softcare 6pieces inside and it's not upto 5k,I use it for 5-6 mnths. Pads shouldn't be expensive cos it's necessity and most adult can't even afford it

Be honest, it’s not worth it. She claims it’s a period kit for girls aged 9 years and above, but a teenage girl cannot afford it. Do I need to read this book every time I buy pads? The book is not necessary. Do I need the box? Do I need the shredded paper? Do I need the plant based wipes? If the unnecessary items are removed, then it will be more affordable.

The greatest killer of many friendships is abusing access. All my life till today I have never BORROWED. From family. From friends from nobody except it’s for medical related purposes. Even when I was poor poor. Having a tough mentality since day one that hunger can’t kill me but fuel me to achieve better is one major thing that got me where I am today. A lot of friendships have been destroyed because most of you have brought beg beg attitude into it while you just lay there and contribute absolutely nothing to the source of the income. Sanitary pads are essential items for women, and trying to make excess profit off these is beyond insensitive. There's no reason why a box of period items should cost over N25k, especially in a country where many young ladies earn less and are heavily dependent on their loved ones. Since this is a product produced in bulk, the cost of production will most likely be cheap, so the cost of retail shouldn't be pricey. If anything, Mercy Johnson should be distributing the menstrual kits for free, as a way to help the girl child and ease the burden on parents. Menstrua' periods aren't luxury, and should not be a way to exploit women.
