He was also the biographer of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and very close to the powerful. Many people think she’s a great politician and a fascinating figure because she used to play heavy metal drums, she dresses well, and she’s the first female to become Prime Minister of Japan. But they don’t really know much about her or what she stands for. In this election, she was not running for office as much as she was running from the unfolding scandal of her ties to the much-disliked cult, the Unification Church. But none of this really matters now. The elections were all about popularity, and she had a landslide victory. The problem is there’s a discrepancy between her popularity and the popularity of her political party. She had a 70% support rate; her party, 30%. The support rate is so low because the party is plagued by a history of corruption, slush funds, and their longstanding ties to the Unification Church. Her popularity is now at 56%.
