Hi I’m PandaX, your go-to guy for DeFi research explainers. I love breaking DeFi concepts and protocols in relatable ways. And I do that with whiteboard videos and infographics. On the side, I’m currently transitioning into Data Analysis. The mission remains the same — break down DeFi concepts and protocols in relatable ways. But the journey never started with this account. Here’s a little background on the brand — PandaX.

there are few protocols/product that can retain users w/o underlying incentives. it’s easier to scream finding pmf as a solution but the industry is still in its adoption phase and would find it hard to play such game. this is why the current market condition should serve as a mindset shift for builders to actually think outside the box. - build an idea that can actually solve problems even w/o incentives as the underlying product. it’s easier on paper but hard to execute and sustain especially with little to no blueprint to follow. in the long run, we’ll look back and see that the current state of the market brought positives to the future of our industry. …only if we utilize this opportunity and not go back to same thing when the storm calms.

One pattern I keep noticing in DeFi: Activity increases → people call it adoption. Incentives end → activity drops → silence. It happens over and over again. Which makes me think… a lot of what we call “growth” is just well-designed incentive programs doing their job. Adoption is different. It is when users stay even when the rewards slow down. What’s one protocol you think has staying power right now?

1. I’d recommend you take your time to connect more and get yourself into communities of like minds. - helps you find opportunities that might not make it to the timeline. - helps you have people that can genuinely speak for you behind closed doors. but you must be willing to serve and contribute though. 2. Learn intensively about DeFi and how to use tools and certain metrics for research. - helps build up your knowledge bank which would come handy sooner or later.

For someone who's experiencing bear market for the first time, this time feels like a whole lot... The confusion, the uncertainty, sometimes I get lost on what to research about. I believe I have so much potential and I'm very much interested in growth. But sometimes I wonder if it happens by just showing up. I honestly need answers... What exactly do I research about? What should I do or shouldn't? I would appreciate your thoughts in the comments.

easily the best read I've had since this week. just to add one more thing. when building a product in Web3, always answer this question - are you building for a short term narrative? or - are you building beyond the trending narrative at any point which might be short lived? the bottom line = is your product actually solving a need and are you willing to see it beyond the green days? this article offers insights on how to play the game of building in web3. kindly read through again and again.

the funny thing is that crying out would do the same thing if roles were reversed. you intend to gain something from someone of higher level which is why you wanted to connect. why not offer something first so as not to come off as a parasite? can be referrals, gigs, or even simple compliments on something you notice they like or do. btw, sending 'hi' with no follow up message is the best way to get snubbed when you have little to no common ground with the person.

one of x’s top influencers posted about supporting small accounts. the post blew up, and a lot of people started quoting it with screenshots showing the influencer didn’t respond to them. most of their messages were basically: “hi,” “wassup.” i don’t really care about either you or the influencer (i’m not even following). but if you ever want to connect with someone especially someone ahead of you it’s much better not to start conversations the same casual way you chat with your close friends. instead of saying “hi,” it’s better to go straight to the point of why you’re sending the dm in the first place. these people have tons of unanswered dms with the same generic messages: “hi” “wassup” “can we connect” your own message might easily be mistaken as spam too. even if your message gets answered, there’s a small chance the conversation will go past three lines. if you really want to connect with someone, it’s not a one-day thing especially if you’re the one reaching out. for me, the better approach is targeting their account organically. support them by commenting on their posts so they start recognizing you. i literally got my first gig through this method. and if what they post at the time doesn’t resonate with you enough to reply, you can still press the like button. liking posts → they get notifications → you keep liking → they start noticing your profile picture. then if you dm them later, they’re naturally more open to hearing what you have to say. it’s human nature to give back the attention someone shows you. i think for most of you it’s more of a skill issue, not that your favorite influencer doesn’t want to connect with you. you just suck at the first approach do better. happy sunday.

this is very relatable. most times, people are tagged ‘lazy’ when they don’t meet up with life targets. growing up, I believed that too. but I’ve come to realize that time and environment has its way of shaping destinies. let’s bring this back to the creatives. it’s one thing to have something in you, it’s another thing to make the most out of it. people with half your skills are making more than you due to time, connection, and guidance. they just have that edge in knowing how best to position or even people that speak for them in closed doors. you just need to find that edge through proper guidance which you can get passively or actively from people.
A.G@aAgbona

Had a brief conversation with a young creative today. She was frustrated and felt stuck because she wasn’t seeing real growth despite her effort. I told her something simple. A lot of people wouldn’t be stuck if they had guidance. The gap between where you are and where you want to be is rarely talent. It’s usually the exact know-how. Skills can be learned, knowledge can be acquired, but direction saves time. You can spend five years guessing, or one year learning from someone who has already walked that road. For creatives especially, proximity matters. Find people who have built what you’re trying to build. Study them, work with them, and ask better questions. It won’t make the journey easy, but it It will definitely make it clearer.
