it’s one thing if you’re a nazi and you try to incorporate mussolini. it doesn’t work, if you read his works, his private conversations with others, it’s pretty clear mussolini was nothing like hitler in terms of ideological worldview. but it’s at least understandable because of the axis alliance. that’s geopolitical, not ideological, so it’s also a category error—but it at least makes sense. but if you’re an unironic nazi wtf is up with trying to incorporate fiume, d’annunzio, marinetti and broader futurism as a whole? you have to have literally never read the carnaro charter or the manifesto of futurism to come to the conclusion that d’annunzio was just like hitler or compatible with nazism in any way. d’annunzio literally warned against an alliance with germany prior to his death, and he turned out to have been completely right. this is the guy who advocated for free love and rampant cocaine usage. the fiume project was in itself an ostensibly multi ethnic one. i ask this because i’ve seen a few of these types try to claim italian futurism, and i know a lot of nazis see my posts, so maybe they can shed light on this.
