@atjg__ I said the same the other day and was told to calm down by many & that it’ll be sorted before next season. All those who’ve mentioned it in the press however, heavily implying we can’t find a deal matching/outdoing the 25M from SELA & might go without. Monumental blunder if so.

One thing that’s gone completely under the radar, we’ve heard absolutely nowt on the new shirt sponsor. Sela was worth, what, £25m a year? That’s a huge amount of money to forfeit if you haven’t managed to find a new sponsor.

@halliday_9 @_EnGee He’s an excellent player but he only turns up in the CL and against the top 6. He’ll go elsewhere and be consistently very good. He clearly doesn’t want to be here and thinks he’s above us but we didn’t help ourselves with the Liverpool debacle

@halliday_9 @_EnGee Yes and no. We’ve created a problem for ourselves when we dangled the carrot of his boyhood club in front of him only to pull the rug at the last minute - problems started then and knowing bigger clubs wanted him is probably got a lot to do with him thinking he’s better than us

🚨 Barcelona have indeed joined the race to sign Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon.  🇪🇸 🇩🇪 Can confirm that Newcastle are now in direct talks with both Bayern Munich and Spanish giants Barca over the 25-year-old.  ❓Gordon was an unused sub in Newcastle's last four games, as they protected him ahead of a summer move.  💴 He has four years left on his contract, and Newcastle are looking for around £75m-£80m for the winger.  #NUFC

@cjhhhh21 @callumclems I haven’t read it yet so I’ll start by saying I’m not sure how accurate it is, but apparently the chronicle are implying we want to sign a keeper to compete with Pope for no1 and will keep the same forward line. It doesn’t sound like much of an overhaul/rebuild

@RichySouthern @GraemeEccles Agreed - it’s depressing, but true. They’ve got the basis of an excellent squad and push the limits off the pitch. Its left them in iffy waters financially once or twice but they’re consistently up there. They’re a lot more ambitious than us

Comments also imply there’ll be some sort of transfer restriction in place, possibly similar to Villa’s which was somewhat of a one in one out policy with incomings needing to match outgoings. You’d think we’d need as much as we can get for the likes of Gordon.

🚨This is now close to be finalised per @msidouglas. Lower fine than Villa and Chelsea because they have a smaller miss. Settlement agreements still tricky to comply with but sales of Isak and Gordon help greatly. No CL less so.

Well, this is stinking. It’s also not being highlighted anywhere near enough how big a gaffe not having a shirt sponsor is - that’s vital money missed out on and we’re not a commercial behemoth that can afford it. The club should be embarrassed but I fear they won’t be.
