Their domain expertise gives them the confidence to say what is and isn't possible. Happens often

Irrational people insist that everything unexplained was done by the unexplainable, like space aliens. The statement "no definitive explanation" is intended as "evidence of space aliens". No, lack of an explanation is no evidence. Space aliens, angels, the gods, are all "non-falsifiable" explanations. We live in a world where most things are unexplained. The irrational fill in the gaps with gods or space aliens. The history of science is gradually filling in the gaps with rational explanations, but nonetheless, the irrational insist that everything yet unexplained is evidence of space aliens or the gods.
