I’m just glad it didn’t boil over & become something more. Get to tilt with something like that & all it takes is a little bit more for it to get bad.
He hates the method. He’s been outspoken about it. Fine.
For me, I’d give them the greens books back & not allow straddling a putt line from ball to hole — BUT honestly — it would be a rule change because it doesn’t look right & we’ve probably had enough of those.

A guy has the 23rd best round our of over 2 million measured professional rounds and you are hand waving that it isn't that impressive. And the only reason you are doing this is because it was accomplished on the PGA Tour. Your incredible commitment to your bit is impressive however.

Main thing is more of a cash register game & far less focused on club, community, loyalty feels.
Layouts are far different. Weather & architectural design forces alternate play considerations — carts — which feeds back into the cash register & profit models & away from club, community, loyalty.

-I was feeling pretty nervous on the tee. Wind left to right with water right. Not exactly my favorite tee shot in the world. Tee shot was a total bailout left knowing I only needed birdie and I could make birdie laying up.
I drew a nice lie, hit a standard 8i into the fairway.
I had 125 pin, down off the left to a front right pin. I knew I wanted to land it with some spin a little left to use the slope. Again with the wind off the left, I decided to hit a hard 56. I had a downhill lie and with how amped up I was, felt like I could get 115 out of it when I hit it 110 normally. I usually overdraw my shots when swinging hard but the lie and the wind pushed it a lot and landed it right of the pin. Was pretty disappointed with that wedge shot. Distance was good though to 24ft.
The putt was up a little ridge and I read it to not have a ton of break. I ended up playing about a ball outside the hole. Last thought was just don’t leave it short. Get it to the hole. I gave it a good rip and easily got it there. As it was 3ft out, it was tracking and I was hoping I didn’t hit it too hard for it to lip out… and it went in!
Unreal day. Happy to be in the history books but now I gotta get ready to try and win the tournament. Let’s get after it.

A couple things here after reading the responses.
1. I’ve been lucky enough to play at some of the nicest courses and I also still play (and pay for rounds) at munis. Debauchery and poor pace of play happens at both from new golfers to old. I think people in general are less kind and considerate and that is also showing up on the golf course
2. Pace of the play seems to be the biggest issue for everyone. I think if courses stick to 12-15 minute interval tee times and crack down on pace of play then the experience will be enhanced for all
3. It’s funny how people will preach decorum, etiquette and how it’s a gentleman’s game while also sending the most vile tweets lol

I love golf. I want everyone to play and I’m excited about all the new people getting into the game. I feel that should be the attitude everyone should have if you truly love the game. I’m so tired of hearing “shrink” and hating on this new culture of golf fans. This condescending and belittling behavior of new golfers is gross to me. You’re not better than someone else or morally superior because you’ve played longer. Golf doesn’t need to be stuffy and exclusive to preserve what we all love about the game so much. It’s about community. Part of the growth is educating and helping new players learn. Stop gatekeeping golf

I don’t even try to engage anymore. Just apologize & buy drinks if it’s me accidentally hitting into someone — or someone from my group doing something dumb (which happens)…but if it’s egregious or clearly alcohol influenced, I just call the clubhouse. I don’t come to the golf course to get to talk to the County Sheriff during or after (although that has happened before too 🤦♂️).

Many U.S. golf and country clubs in the northeast are experiencing a huge problem in membership quality and I'm not sure everyone realizes how worse off we are for it

I’ve got the (well) over 40 population covered on this one. 👍😂
The social aspects of golf are less & less important to me as I get older.
I don’t want to hang out after. I don’t want to shake your hand post round after you’ve pee’d in the bushes 5 times. I don’t want to talk politics or sports during the entire round.
I just want to play golf at a decent pace, with decent people, & part ways after the 18th. And then lather/rinse/repeat each round.

They needed to make the changes because it was providing too much public data on dates, courses played, etc.
The overall handicap should always be able to be viewed, but that’s all that’s required for a match or tournament.
I’ve personally seen the data used for tracking & verifying (proving not somewhere else) location in the past.
It’s not a trusted number or system anyway. They need 100 more priority system changes to make it a viable product, but information control is a good first step.

Golf "creators" are ruining competitive golf. It's one thing to film yourself shooting 82, it's another to invite your cameraman ONTO the green, DURING PLAY. It’s intrusive, disrespectful, and a distraction your playing partners didn’t agree to. Embarrassing behavior.

Been lots of takes on this lately…the Covidians, Trust Fund bros, 📣”Light the Candle!” 📣 crowd… ruining today’s game. Funny to me because this has been golf — FROM THE BEGINNING. If you look at any point in its history…it’s keep XXX out because XXX isn’t worthy & doesn’t respect tradition. I started in 1987 as an adult. Wasn’t welcomed — gatekeeping from the start on everything from clothes, to equipment, to strategy. Can remember vividly back then, older guys saying things like: “Junior Enlisted shouldn’t be allowed to tee off before noon” … & I was like … you shoot 95! ⁉️🤦♂️🤷♂️😂 I can remember when mock collars caused drama & weren’t allowed to be worn ON the course, but were sold IN the pro shop.🤷♂️😂 I can remember when the planting of 150-yard bushes signaled the weakening of a generation.😂😂😂 Golf has ALWAYS been exclusionary. ALWAYS been gate-kept by a group from every generation — FROM THE BEGINNING. This is no different from right now AND give it a few years & golfers will be bitching about something else that breaks tradition or makes the game too easy from the one they played into the wind & uphill every hole.

But then there are ppl who just don’t even get the basics
