@RyanPluskis4 @ChiefCub I beg to differ. The Rangers broadcast was ridiculous and unprofessional when I watched it for a couple innings the other day. Continuously bashing the Cubs for the first 4-5 innings instead of just calling the game.

@ChiefCub All the low IQ people will say “forced hate” and say he’s the best. It’s so embarrassing. Listen to literally any other teams broadcast. Boog is the 2nd worst in the entire league. (A’s is horrendous).

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 He also went from walking 4% of the time last year to nearly 8% this season. That seems to be a pretty big indicator of improving his plate discipline improving, but you already have your mind made up that he sucks so that’s fine with me lmao

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 Except unlike you said it does mean quite a bit. Chase rate is literally the hardest metric to change as a hitter once you’re in the big leagues. You can act like you didn’t blow off my original comment and say it meant next to nothing that he’s improved but everyone can read it

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 You can’t be expecting a 40% chase rate to get down to league average in an offseason. His walk rate has almost doubled from last season. It’s dudes 2nd full season as a major leaguer seeing improvements already on one of the hardest tendencies to change is very encouraging.

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 He’s made a very noticeable improvement on chasing pitches out of the zone. Anyone who hasn’t seen it hasn’t been watching. That’s all I gotta say

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 You’re right. Really young players getting better at something they needed to improve on doesn’t matter at all. Silly of me to even mention it

@Gavinywg1 @moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 Everyone saying PCA needs to stop chasing pitches way out of the zone when that’s been his biggest improvement at the plate this year is crazy. Makes me wonder if anyone who says that is really watching the games or not.

@moviefan_2000 @Cubbieblue97 I mean he’s still not nearly been as good as he should be. He’s hitting below average at the plate at .236 and been a very good fielder. I’d say c is a fair trade for him. B would be fair if he was hitting .250+ but he isn’t. Maybe if he’d stop swinging at pitches 2 feet outside

@theDrDiMarco @hubermanlab I think you’re saying “or” when in all likelihood it’s probably “and”. Don’t really think anyone is saying delayed gratification is the only skill it takes to be successful, but most people who are successful have probably delayed gratification multiple times in their life.

The debunk of the 2 Marshmallow Test has been debunked & most people don’t cite these studies correctly. What the actual experiment was & data ultimately show. The takeaway: ability to delay gratification is on a continuum & yes it is predictive of (certain aspects of) success.

@theDrDiMarco @hubermanlab I guarantee the most successful people you know also put off opportunities for instant gratification with the foresight that it would benefit them later down the line.

@hubermanlab The most successful people i know are doers. Even if they have one company its constant reiteration or launching products until one winner is hit. That seems like the ability to take a loss and move on not really delayed gratification.

@JMcFall07 @RedbirdRiot @TheConnorPils We are 8-5 against teams above .500. I’m not really here to argue the best record in the league I’m just enjoying the ride laughing at people who are mad about it.

The Braves have played ONE (1) game against a team above .500. They lost it. The Yankees are 1-5. The Padres are 3-5. The Dodgers are 4-3. The Brewers are 2-3. Yet SOMEHOW, the Cubs who are 8-5 get the “fraud” label?? Miss me with that lol

@RedbirdRiot @TheConnorPils We are on a historic start to the season it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know regression is inevitable. However “regression” from this pace could still be a 100 win ballclub. Not getting too high cuz there’s a lot of season left but this team is incredibly fun to watch.

We can speak again when you guys win 10 in a row and/or 22 out of 25 Or after you guys go to LA for 3 games or after they come to Wrigley for a couple. Don’t get jealous lil bro

@Rick94213132 @OleTimeHardball Brother the shift was on for Bonds too, while not quite as extreme is still had 5 defenders on the right side of 2nd. Not to mention he has twice as many intentional walks as the next closest player. Not necessarily saying Bonds is the greatest but he’s certainly on Rushmore.

@_KingVig @OleTimeHardball Question was about hitting, not fielding. Bonds lifetime batting average: .298. Williams lifetime average: .344 (and, he hit INTO the Williams shift). Cobb lifetime average: .367. Yes, that is correct: Bonds is not to be compared to Williams or Cobb…not for hitting.

@Rick94213132 @OleTimeHardball Basing all time lists off whether or not you’re a fan of a player is an interesting take. Not sure that’s really a good baseline for measuring talent, but hey, whatever you’re into I guess.

@_KingVig @OleTimeHardball Bonds doesn’t even exist next to Cobb or Williams and it’s a stretch to compare him to Ruth or Gehrig, as well. Sorry, Bonds doesn’t crack my list of top twenty hitters, stats or no stats. Nope, not a fan of him.
