2. Best Founders Do Not Optimise for Price: Obession on price is over. Smart founders want to get fair prices and they don't want to take in too much capital. They also know the higher price they raise at, the harder to exit given where exit markets and pricing is at today.

Seed pricing is worse than it has ever been. Multi-stage funds are paying up like never before. WTF happens from here. This is an absolute banger with @edsim on the three types of seed round today, pricing, growth rounds, M&A and so much more... Top 7 Lessons: 👇

Recently talked to a founder raising a pre-seed round who plans to use much of the cash to build out a sales team. Gulp. My perspective is that this rarely works and that founder-led sales will be necessary for another round or two. The founder was totally shocked. Never heard this feedback before. Who is helping first time founders with their sales strategy these days? We need to get the word out…

@_MasonYates DataShield AI @DataShieldAI has a browser extension (similarly to Grammarly) that catches/alters personally identifiable information on any website such as ChatGPT to redact / mask; before user typed or pasted texts go into LLMs. Started with employers in mind, but could add B2C

@_MasonYates Building AI products for individuals is tricky (if you want to get paid). I think the best use cases could be around using AI as a reasoning agent... and staying away from content creation.

@TDM_Growth This is dominant. Thanks Tim for the analysis and TDM for sharing <3. I'd love to understand what drove the bad margin compression in a future post <3.

Hope you have enjoyed this mini data dive into what the very best have done to deliver consistent margin expansion, while maintaining growth. We think this is relevant for CEOs, CFOs and investors alike. Thanks to Tim Le for putting this work together.

In a world where investors are increasingly valuing profitability over growth, we thought it would be worthwhile to do some work on 'what great looks like' as it relates to margin expansion for fast growing, software companies of scale (>$300m in revenue). A thread... (1/10)

Jarrod left UberEats once businesses started reaching out, saying "hang on, we'll pay you" and Jarrod realised [he] had a viral product with a bottoms-up SaaS component to it.

Some see podcast, I see hundreds of people last year increasing their conviction and making better decisions as to which startup to join. Wild Hearts is a talent lighthouse that helps build better teams. A job well done @_MasonYates 💜
