@dpsalmon Utterly ridiculous to say the very least. Massive respect for still making the commentary happen, albeit in unnecessarily difficult circumstances - legend 👊

This week, I experienced a first in 28 years of being in the media industry. Boreham Wood refused my request for media accreditation for the game against Morecambe. Why? Press box already full? No power? Nope. Boreham Wood say they have a strict policy of no non-mandated away broadcast media allowed at their games. Although under National League guidelines it’s their prerogative to refuse access, quite how a radio station based 250 miles away covering the game would have any impact on the match attendance or anything else simply defies all logic. I’m unaware of any other team in the league who have this rule. We tried to reason with them. They wouldn’t budge. Indeed, their stance while trying to resolve the situation has frankly bordered on hostile, going on to say that any attempt made to attend the match and broadcast would have been met with me being removed from the stadium. I have never once been refused access to any game I have covered, from Step 9 to the Premier League and Wembley, until now. At Beyond Radio, we’ve been proud and honoured to be Morecambe Football Club’s commentary partner since 2021. We have covered, consecutively, almost 230 fixtures in what is now our fifth season. We haven’t missed a single match, and I have personally commentated on all but four of them, all over the country. After everything that has happened over the summer, we were really excited to finally be able to resume our commentary service, as we have been delighted to do in the first four games of the season. Regrettably, this has been compromised this weekend. Despite this, Beyond Radio continues to deliver the service that our listeners have come to expect and rely on. Thanks for your ears, albeit a little different in terms of listening experience. It was certainly a first for me. #UTS 🦐
