Give him that balance, and you’ll see an absolutely terrifying version of Frenkie de Jong.

I think it’s really cynical how the narratives work from within our own fanbase. After 23/24 literally everyone thought we were going to go through a period of historic humiliation at the hands of Madrid, we have been operating with our hands tied behind our back financially for like 5 years, our stadium has been under construction for 3 years, making even simple signings has proven to require a Herculean effort from the club. With this context, what this team is doing RIGHT NOW is more than what anyone expected from us in this time, yet there is a nontrivial portion of the fanbase that thinks 5 trophies in 2 seasons is somehow unacceptable or insufficient. There are weaknesses in the squad and in the coaching, this is true with any team in Europe. No team is perfect. But teams that are developing need patience, they need direction, and they need support from the club and the fanbase. If you want to praise Arsenal for anything, it’s that they gave their coach and their team what it needed to get to where it is now and it took them 6 years under Arteta to get here. Be patient, trust the club, be a fucking FAN of the club not a cynic waiting for the next failure to pen your think pieces, and enjoy the process through the ups and downs. That’s what being a fan of a real club is about, if you’re unwilling to accept the lows that come with the highs, go support Madrid or something.
