I just tried to type 'I am a Civil Engineer' for an application and when I looked at the screen I had typed....

@Obv_Bex @ucas_online @LJMU I'm so sorry, there are so many brilliant courses at 16-18 not A-levels, but they get dismissed by some unis. E.g. Engineering T-level, fab qualification, but many unis still require A-level maths for an engineering degree. Bonkers. Clearing through UCAS is the way to go

@ucas_online @LJMU I’m Devestated for her, so is she. Clearing just said they have NOTHING to offer at LJMU Two years of hard work on a course that doesn’t seem well recognised, yet the Uni course is everything she’s already done at college. Uni just said a fat no without discussions. Tragic

@Dunc76 Making dams and catching minnows was how I spent all my summers as a kid 🥰. That was a tiny tributary in Essex. Now we swim in the Tawe main river upstream of Swansea, the kids (and I) still try to dam the shallow section. The 30m width has so far defeated us. One day...

@DrPragyaAgarwal I recognised this avoidance in me, until I discovered that angry-making books are excellent as audiobooks during the no-mans land of commuting.

Men often don't pick up books that highlight the brutalities of the patriarchy, and women sometimes don't want to read these books as they can make them angry and they don't want that discomfort. These books are not 'summer reading' or 'beach reading' or seen as gifts.
