if being good at chess is a sign of high intelligence, why isn't the average grandmaster rich?

Skely@123skely
Chess is just intellectual masturbation. Like sure it’s fun, but at the end of the day you didn’t get anything done.
English

@mitsuhiko Agreed. 5.4 doesn't have the same feel.
Tried out minimax/minimax-m2.5:free today, and had nicer vibes.
English

@mitsuhiko genuinely curious what's the point of Pi vs. all other coding agents ? Do you have a super custom setup ?
English

@nextokens @krzyzanowskim This I guess GitHub - rynfar/meridian: Use your Claude Max subscription with OpenCode, Pi, Droid, Aider, Crush, Cline. Proxy that bridges Anthropic's official SDK to enable Claude Max in third-party tools. · GitHub share.google/zIiBVgjNAMz0TI…
English

the fact that pi.dev agent is so good, with virtually no sophisticated harness whatsoever, is a testament to the fact token vendor (codex/claude) agents are overrated. highly.
today's moat of codex/claude tools is GIVING TOKENS FOR FREE LEFT AND RIGHT to make you dependant
English

@B2Lance_global @OpenAI Hmm.. Do I go with the one that forces me to use their harness, or not?
English

We’re updating our ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscriptions to better support the growing use of Codex.
We’re introducing a new $100/month Pro tier. This new tier offers 5x more Codex usage than Plus and is best for longer, high-effort Codex sessions.
In ChatGPT, this new Pro tier still offers access to all Pro features, including the exclusive Pro model and unlimited access to Instant and Thinking models.
To celebrate the launch, we’re increasing Codex usage for a limited time through May 31st so that Pro $100 subscribers get up to 10x usage of ChatGPT Plus on Codex to build your most ambitious ideas.
English

@OpenAI "We’re updating our ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscriptions to better support the growing use of Codex."
Read: no one is using Codex and we need people to learn about it through our only popular app before we completely lose to Anthropic.

“We wouldn't be in this war in Iran had Tucker not promoted Trump for president, had Candace not promoted Trump for president...”
@mehdirhasan and @Byoussef debate whether conservative media hosts like Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson can be trusted.
English

@natemcgrady @GargEtisha If by 'good' you mean, it can be customized to exactly how you want to use it? then yes, it's that good. Can even tell it to fix itself, add new models/extensions/tools, etc.
English

@GargEtisha No - is it good? It would need to be significantly better than opencode for me to make another switch
English

@badlogicgames Pi is my ChatGPT, or my Claude, or whatever I want it to be... So when I urgently message at 12am "how to stop explosive diarrhea" it always goes through Pi.
So, no can do!
English

i'm about to put the most embarassing data on the internet. hope i don't get pwned.
you can do so too! updated pi-share-hf, share your coding agent sessions with the world, savely (fingers crossed, read the README.md in full)
github.com/badlogic/pi-sh…

English

I actually do this.
Trick #1 - stop using native web/desktop apps (you can't export & sync chat histories)
Trick #2 - Use CLI connected to whatever model you want. I prefer Pi (@badlogicgames ) in this case because all sessions are stored in JSON.
Trick #3 - if you hate CLI, then build something like a Telegram bot, or your own Web app.
I then create a sync script cron job which syncs session histories across multiple machines, stores in 1 Postgres Vector DB, and have an agent that I can query (eg: what did I work on/talk about last week?)
Trick is to stop using the "proprietary tools" where your data is locked in.
Thanks to this syncing, I now have automations updating system prompts across machines so with every chat, agent knows who I am and what I'm working on, etc.
English

This may be a dumb question but I’ll ask it here anyways:
I can’t find a good way for my various AI chats to automatically sync its conversation history into a structured knowledge base. So that as I update various chats from time to time and refine context, my knowledge base automatically grows with this new info.
English

@badlogicgames It's funny. I'll likely drop my $200/mo sub because I have zero interest in using claude code. I must use Pi.
English

entirely expected and makes sense under their ToS.
Codex, OpenCode Zen, MiniMax, z.ai. You have many options.
dancube@ctx_dan
Well, it’s been a good run @badlogicgames and pi-coding-agent
English

@steipete @davemorin Like I understand it’s frustrating but why would they subsidise projects that aren’t their own?
You can still use Anthropic models over the API
English

woke up and my mentions are full of these
Both me and @davemorin tried to talk sense into Anthropic, best we managed was delaying this for a week.
Funny how timings match up, first they copy some popular features into their closed harness, then they lock out open source.

@bcherny @jaredctate "Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible"
It was at this moment, that "personal computing" made a comeback :
Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible
English

We're big fans of open source. I actually just put up a few PRs to improve prompt cache efficiency for OpenClaw specifically.
This is more about engineering constraints. Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible with the most intelligent models, we are continuing to optimize that.
When you use an API key or overages it should still work. The issue was just subs.
If you still want to cancel, we're giving full refunds. We know not everyone realized this isn't something we support, and this is an attempt to make it clear and explicit.
