Having to use Claude Code after Pi is such a huge bummer

@eptwts How do you define "rich"? Some of the "richest" people I've ever met had no money.

@mitsuhiko Agreed. 5.4 doesn't have the same feel. Tried out minimax/minimax-m2.5:free today, and had nicer vibes.

@mitsuhiko genuinely curious what's the point of Pi vs. all other coding agents ? Do you have a super custom setup ?

the fact that pi.dev agent is so good, with virtually no sophisticated harness whatsoever, is a testament to the fact token vendor (codex/claude) agents are overrated. highly. today's moat of codex/claude tools is GIVING TOKENS FOR FREE LEFT AND RIGHT to make you dependant

We’re updating our ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscriptions to better support the growing use of Codex. We’re introducing a new $100/month Pro tier. This new tier offers 5x more Codex usage than Plus and is best for longer, high-effort Codex sessions. In ChatGPT, this new Pro tier still offers access to all Pro features, including the exclusive Pro model and unlimited access to Instant and Thinking models. To celebrate the launch, we’re increasing Codex usage for a limited time through May 31st so that Pro $100 subscribers get up to 10x usage of ChatGPT Plus on Codex to build your most ambitious ideas.

It's actually that many are jumping ship from Anthropic around this particular moment in time... Like me, canceling a $200/mo plan because I don't want to be forced to use dog shit Claude Code, and wondering if I should put those funds toward a DoD Contractor, or give to OS models

@OpenAI "We’re updating our ChatGPT Pro and Plus subscriptions to better support the growing use of Codex." Read: no one is using Codex and we need people to learn about it through our only popular app before we completely lose to Anthropic.

@natemcgrady @GargEtisha If by 'good' you mean, it can be customized to exactly how you want to use it? then yes, it's that good. Can even tell it to fix itself, add new models/extensions/tools, etc.

@GargEtisha No - is it good? It would need to be significantly better than opencode for me to make another switch

@badlogicgames Pi is my ChatGPT, or my Claude, or whatever I want it to be... So when I urgently message at 12am "how to stop explosive diarrhea" it always goes through Pi. So, no can do!

I actually do this. Trick #1 - stop using native web/desktop apps (you can't export & sync chat histories) Trick #2 - Use CLI connected to whatever model you want. I prefer Pi (@badlogicgames ) in this case because all sessions are stored in JSON. Trick #3 - if you hate CLI, then build something like a Telegram bot, or your own Web app. I then create a sync script cron job which syncs session histories across multiple machines, stores in 1 Postgres Vector DB, and have an agent that I can query (eg: what did I work on/talk about last week?) Trick is to stop using the "proprietary tools" where your data is locked in. Thanks to this syncing, I now have automations updating system prompts across machines so with every chat, agent knows who I am and what I'm working on, etc.

This may be a dumb question but I’ll ask it here anyways: I can’t find a good way for my various AI chats to automatically sync its conversation history into a structured knowledge base. So that as I update various chats from time to time and refine context, my knowledge base automatically grows with this new info.

@badlogicgames It's funny. I'll likely drop my $200/mo sub because I have zero interest in using claude code. I must use Pi.

@steipete @davemorin Like I understand it’s frustrating but why would they subsidise projects that aren’t their own? You can still use Anthropic models over the API

@bcherny @jaredctate "Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible" It was at this moment, that "personal computing" made a comeback : Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible

We're big fans of open source. I actually just put up a few PRs to improve prompt cache efficiency for OpenClaw specifically. This is more about engineering constraints. Our systems are highly optimized for one kind of workload, and to serve as many people as possible with the most intelligent models, we are continuing to optimize that. When you use an API key or overages it should still work. The issue was just subs. If you still want to cancel, we're giving full refunds. We know not everyone realized this isn't something we support, and this is an attempt to make it clear and explicit.

Starting tomorrow at 12pm PT, Claude subscriptions will no longer cover usage on third-party tools like OpenClaw. You can still use these tools with your Claude login via extra usage bundles (now available at a discount), or with a Claude API key.
