@zeldapoem @crystalxduan there are structural differences in sf vs the places mentioned that make it more difficult (still doable ofc)

If you're trying to host good parties in SF, stop reinventing the wheel from first principles > go to Berlin experience techno clubs > go to London for a warehouse rave > go to Paris, become friend with a model and end up at a house party with all their friends during fashion week > go to Burning Man, go to Seoul, go to NYC ... etc People assume it's easy to host a good party. It's very hard. Go see how experts do it

the fact that pi.dev agent is so good, with virtually no sophisticated harness whatsoever, is a testament to the fact token vendor (codex/claude) agents are overrated. highly. today's moat of codex/claude tools is GIVING TOKENS FOR FREE LEFT AND RIGHT to make you dependant

epistemic status: loosely held speculation this is probably a pretty bad time to be holding very much money in crypto wallets and especially smart contracts. mythos level cybersecurity capabilities will probably proliferate relatively nearterm, and zerodays on that scale means countless smart contracts hacked and countless keys leaked. i think it's pretty plausible the actual cores of Bitcoin and Ethereum remain stable, but unless you were very careful about setting up a hardware wallet and never exposed your keys you might already be in danger, and even then there's countless attacks possible that can drain everything without getting your keys. and if your crypto is gone you have no recourse. even if banks get massively hacked there's a pretty sold chance everything gets reversed, or insurance pays out. you have far more protection against system failures. now i will say if you give it a 6-12 month period of mythos level *hardening* on Ethereum + various specific wallets and smart contracts, it's likely they're also the most viable long term path we have to genuinely secure financial systems. banks will always be subject to social engineering and supply chain attacks in ways crypto at least can be more exempt from, and even if things can be rolled back it's a crazy inconvenience . but self custody might be the wrong move for a while unless you're incredibly careful and paranoid . the threat models have changed

i keep a “Daily note” open in obsidian throughout the workday where i scribble todos, ideas, meeting notes etc at the end of the day, claw pulls my granola transcripts, the daily note, my messages, synthesizes, updates my project status, and the gives me a daily note for the next day with a summary of where things are at and a prioritized todo list i have a dev agent setup using acp bindings to drive acp codex sessions on my remote dev machine each with a dedicated discord thread another claw monitors all my comms and gives me a morning and evening report of who i need to respond to, filters junk out another claw agent pulls my spending from plaid, looks for subscriptions and categorizes them, flags me of things i should cancel, makes suggestions, identifies work expenses and compiles expensify reports for reimbursement another big thing that’s nice about it is when you use it to research like you would chatgpt, you can have it buy the item you picked, add notes on your research to your note app etc

has anybody done anything actually useful or interesting with a "claw"? I see a lot of "organize my notes folder" and "I can send text messages to it" but like. what's the advantage here over having a human at least a little bit in the loop

I want to get my dad (late 60s) into video games as a pastime, as an improvement over cable TV news and YouTube shorts. he agrees and is on board, but he's tried playing video games in the past and "they just don't grab me." any recs for a novice gamer? maybe map games?

Perhaps I’m naive, but before moving to San Francisco I had never met such a large cohort of people that just straight lie all the time and are comfortable with it. I think this is a big city thing and not SF specifically.

you can argue forever about various life philosophies, but some are inherently self refuting due to visibly destroying the lives of their biggest proponents. it's not just that *you* would be unhappy if you acted like Clavicular, it's that *he's* made unhappy by the things he espouses. at least many christians seem genuinely quite happy with their belief system even if it's not for me personally! at least donald trump seems to enjoy the world he inhabits and the things he's decided to value! much of incel adjacent rhetoric is based on constructing a world where you definitionally cannot ever be happy as a way to cope for the fact that you currently aren't. and that leaves you doomed to endless comparison and maximization, leaves Clavicular in this soulless joyless glass zoo of his own creation, where he can never stop striving and never reaches any goal that feels genuinely satisfying to him. the affliction of Blind-posters and TC-maxxers is nearly identical, largely because those cultures are very much incel-derived. SWEs who are getting laid and have friends don't have a need to construct these kinds of game-able value systems. they have robust holistic real value in their lives reject Famine in all his forms. do not let the hunger consume you.

NEW 'LORD OF THE RINGS' MOVIE Stephen Colbert is co-writing "The Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past" (working title), which will go into production after "The Hunt for Gollum." The synopsis: "Fourteen years after the passing of Frodo - Sam, Merry, and Pippin set out to retrace the first steps of their adventure. Meanwhile, Sam’s daughter, Elanor, has discovered a long-buried secret and is determined to uncover why the War of the Ring was very nearly lost before it even began." Colbert is co-writing the script with his son, Peter McGee, and franchise veteran Philippa Boyens. variety.com/2026/film/news…
