ASTS uses lower-band frequencies (700-800 MHz). While these lower bands offer better long-distance coverage, they have limited capacity and speed. SpaceX, by contrast, has now secured significantly better frequencies and already has thousands of satellites in orbit and operational. As a result, Starlink will be able to deliver much faster, higher-capacity, and higher-quality service compared to ASTS. With this deal, SpaceX has gained a clear competitive advantage.
