The Catholic Church is not a denomination, but rather the original Church founded by Jesus Christ. We are the universal body (rooted in 1st-century apostolic tradition) from which other groups later separated, becoming Protestants (protesting the Catholic Church). Without guidance and direction, Protestants have since splintered into over 40,000 sects (denominations).

There were two apostles named Judas: St. Jude Thaddeus and Judas Iscariot. Bergoglio suggested that we cannot know Judas Iscariot’s final fate and often emphasized God’s mercy in a way that implies even such a betrayal was not beyond forgiveness, perhaps because he felt a certain closeness to him.

Worst pope in the last two centuries. His pontificate was a total disaster. He may not have created our current church crisis with the liturgy, but he certainly exacerbated it with the horrible Traditionis Custodes. Pope Francis, even in his later years, unable to celebrate Mass, would still go on his knees to wash the feet of prisoners; men and women, Catholic and Muslim, on Holy Thursday.

This is unbelievably scandalous. I didn’t think there was any recovery after Barron told Shapiro he could be saved because he follows the Mosaic law without accepting Jesus Christ; this just perfects the scandal beyond repair I’m afraid.

After much prayer, deep study, and an intense personal journey of discernment, I have decided to leave Catholicism and become Protestant. I can no longer remain in submission to a visible Church with apostolic authority, valid sacraments, saints, councils, consistency across centuries, and an actual historical claim to be the Church founded by Christ. Instead, I have been led to the far more reasonable position that Christ left us a Bible, a highlighter, and me. From this day forward, I will be my own final authority on Scripture, history, doctrine, and the meaning of Greek words I looked up 7 minutes ago. I will now reject Sacred Tradition in the name of traditions invented in 1998, deny the authority of the Church that gave me the canon, and confidently explain Christianity through a sermon clip, a study Bible note, and a man on YouTube named Caleb. I have also come to see that the best way to preserve Christian unity is by joining a theological system in which everyone is their own pope, every disagreement creates a new church plant, and "being led by the Spirit" simply means agreeing with my current opinion. I will be launching my own denomination later this afternoon. Our distinctives will include symbolic communion, invisible church membership, a 36 sermon series on Romans, and a firm belief that every Christian in history was wrong until my favorite pastor with a podcast arrived. Please respect my journey during this delicate time.

Yes, my dad was a baptist pastor and he did the same. He also used to say those Catholics worshipped statues. He knew better, but did it to insure people did not convert as that hurt his livelihood. I asked him once in 1973 when 'The Exorcist' movie came out what he would do if someone was possessed at church, and he said he would call the Catholics as they had all the old prayers. That was the moment I knew I would convert once I was an adult.

Some people never believed we went to the moon. One of them was my grandmother, God rest her soul. You know what? Those same type of people will likely not believe we’re going to the moon now.
