Most market “research” I am seeing is looking at “inputs” (e.g. CTA buying) instead of “outputs” (subsequent market moves). This indicator is a great case in point. The high levels reached in 2023 portended a decline, not a rally. Forward earnings increases appear high correlated to energy prices.
