Actually, Rory, we DID try to talk compromise 7/8 years ago.
Stonewall etc called us bigots and screamed #nodebate. They wanted everything: the most dangerous rapists in women's prison, men in women's sport, cross dressing volunteers "looking after" 11 year old girls on Guide trips. We went to law because it was all that was left. They overreached and the line, which was always biology, had to be reaffirmed.
Your "liberal" position is, in reality, still prioritising men. You could have listened back then too, but you and Campbell continue to speak over us and make assumptions. Would it be so difficult to invite a woman onto your podcast? Or are you scared you might have to learn something?
Oh, and yes, there are always more important things than women's rights. Or, at least, that is what feminists have been told for decades. We have to force the issue because, otherwise, we are at the back of the queue.

@Johanva26279201 @francesca_kms So forever be stuck behind a van?
Or forever be stuck behind a van who could break suddenly?
Even when driving I would keep a slightly right position to ensure I can see slightly further ahead of the van.
English

@_VN5 @francesca_kms As far as seeing ahead, when you can’t, you can’t.
So patience would be the name of the game.
You don’t take risks in traffic.
Btw, I know conditions are different overhere, but in NL in general cyclists are only allowed to undertake, not overtake.
English

@Johanva26279201 @francesca_kms I didn’t see it that way. It’s a good position to be able to see ahead. You can’t see ahead of the van by being directly behind them.
How would you ever know if it safe to overtake?
English

@francesca_kms Yes it is a shame cycling infrastructure is this bad in London.
But although we can’t see the full context, I do wonder why this dad (I presume) thought it a good idea to attempt to overtake the van when it clearly was dangerous to do so.
English

Is that cyclist using his phone while riding 😂
david@blackcabdave50
All the road closures in Hackney have completely f@cked the roads up putting peoples lives at risk

It's victim blaming plain and simple. Even if the cyclist did run PEDESTRIAN lights here the truck following would have done the same
I see amber gambler London black taxi drivers all the time. Who do you think here has the most chance of killing someone one day?
Cyclist or Taxi?
Nag_the_Cab@Nag_the_Cab
@n00dles71 @BBCLondonNews Not as horrible as you to suggest I'm celebrating death ffs ...what a f**king weasel you are When you see hundreds of cyclists going through red lights every day and I mean hundreds ,it's inevitable someone is going to get killed Stop at Red lights become a safer cyclist

Motorists out here crashing into shit, flipping cars over in residential streets, destroying public infrastructure and killing people on a regular basis, yet cyclists are "the most hated" because some of them don't stop at a specific zebra crossing in London.
👉 motonormativity.

@GuidoSailor65@GuidoSailor65
@ediz1975 I wonder why cyclists are the most hated in all cities?
English

I’ve never seen pedestrians death paint. Only ever cyclist death paint.

I see extending the footpath by painting a white line is going well

@BriannaWu @LordWalney @DAaronovitch You’re welcome. Your expectation to use female-only spaces is unreasonable: they don’t exist to validate your identity. Part of being an adult is understanding that other people have needs and rights, too.
English

@WingsScotland @LordWalney Why do trans allies never suggest making men’s spaces safer instead of imposing men in women’s spaces for ‘their safety’?
English

Not the side I usually fall on, but am really troubled by implications of this for many trans people who will be at greater risk if they simply switch public bathrooms as currently constituted. I hope there is a way that women’s right to single-sex spaces can be delivered without putting others at greater risk
BBC Breakfast@BBCBreakfast
Single-sex spaces - such as changing rooms and toilets - must be used on the basis of biological sex, new guidance from the equalities watchdog has confirmed. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@sharpy2022 @BarefootLady @lambeth_council Because why should everyone else have to obey the law and they don’t?
Mind your own business, keep it out of my opinion.
English

This is the third time I see a car with covered number plates in my area. Why do people do this? Is it happening in other parts of London or has @lambeth_council done something?

English

@MCab78 @olagbaju_abiola Good then pay £58 and stop moaning.
Or shall we make it free and then everyone and their dog will do the same and cause even more congestion?
English

@_VN5 @olagbaju_abiola Not everyone wants to mix that closely with 100s of others, main benefit of having a car?
