Rejecting a claim does not automatically create an equal opposite claim. If someone says “a god exists” and another person says “I’m not convinced,” those are not logically identical positions. And not every atheist “builds their identity” around atheism any more than every religious person builds their entire identity around religion. A lot of atheists simply reject arguments they find unconvincing and move on.
