@ReGO_Kazami@thewardoll What makes a real sword legally different from a replica sword? Is it just the sharpness of the blade or does the blade also have to be made from a weak metal?
@TruthbyDiogenes@ly_rone They use Chinese glass for their low end scopes and Japanese glass for their high end models. The exception is their pistol red dot which is 100% made in the US.
@Cpt_TAKAHASHI@michael_mi64269 As an example, if you talked about how proud you are of Ohtani and the Dodgers, the worst thing you’ll hear is complaints about them always winning. You’d have to be extremely rude to make people mad. Japanese people have a reputation of being polite so I doubt you’d have issues.
@shion0_25mg@burntsimian Make sure to buy real maple syrup and not maple-flavored syrup (which is just dyed sugar water). It's much more expensive but it tastes way better.
@orca_mustang How much are the taxes on it since it has a 6.2 liter engine? I've heard that Japan has very high taxes on cars with large displacement engines.
@marcel_germann@ForgotWeapons Obviously, but since over two thirds of the country is on X, it's very possible that someone who works for one of those groups sees Ian's tweet and helps out.
@__abba__@ForgotWeapons Japanese gun laws are very strict, so actually only the manufacturer, military personnel or museums could provide good pictures of the real rifles.
So it‘s either that, or wait until a pebble turns into a rock that is overgrown with moss.
Now that we appear to have all of Japan here without a language barrier, is there anyone with ties to Howa who might be able to get me really good professional photos of the Type 64 and Type 89 rifles to use in print?
@Maelzel_opening@hyperlingu26911 The WRX is popular amongst young straight men in the US as well because it is a relatively cheap sports car with AWD and a manual transmission. Its rally racing history also contributes to its popularity. The BRZ is also popular with the same group, though not as much as the WRX.
@milspec_mi Sadly I have never heard of that. Have you seen “The Final Countdown”? It’s a film about a modern aircraft carrier getting sent back in time to Pearl Harbor. You may like it as it’s a similar concept. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Final…
@MUKIDEZA2 The Arisaka Type 99 is a very popular and affordable rifle amongst gun collectors. Most of ours were brought back by American soldiers and had their Chrysanthemum emblem ground off out of respect for the Emperor.
American weapons like the M1 Garand and 1911 are also popular.
@niceview111@theryanunderhil@Yoshi49455035 The Japanese companies are more American than American companies because GM and Ford outsource a lot of their cars to Mexico and Canada.
@niceview111@theryanunderhil@Yoshi49455035 Both companies also have large factories and engineering offices in the US. For example, the Toyota Tundra (a pickup truck) is both designed and built in Texas (and they come with a Texas flag sticker on them that proudly states that).
@niceview111@theryanunderhil@Yoshi49455035 Because our (now-expired) EV subsidies were restricted to vehicles that are made in the United States, nearly every EV sold here was made in America. The Hummer EV is manufactured in Detroit.
