@natori It's American equivalents of インプレゾンビ causing the misunderstanding in my opinion, and much of it is intentional unfortunately. Exporting our domestic political conflicts and treating EN-JP twitters first meeting as a political battlefield, it's embarrassing.

@s55KpX954f46272 @natori Red does have more signature BBQ styles, Blue does eat more Japanese food and foreign foods in general. But all Americans love BBQ. There has never been a political/cultural divide on BBQ, though clearly twitter users are trying to make it some politicized symbol recently.

@Nafe_nasutetsu It's becoming much less common in favor of listening to audio books. Even if they do read, I think most bookshelves are more often there for decoration honestly. People have tablets to read from, so physical shelves are more of a decorative part of the home these days.

@Ramstein030 @esjesjesj It's not like engagement baiters are foreign concept to JP twitter, they call them "impression zombies" (インプレゾンビ), and it seems like they found their new angle.

@Ramstein030 @esjesjesj I'm distrusting any with a checkmark immediately. Plenty of JP users I trust have been complaining about seeing tons more stilted-sounding JP tweets the past few days, and implying that they're larpers or bots.

@FFXIVLizard @PSA_Sitch @Timoyr3 @Notwithsitting While initially it was arbitrary, it become the official anchoring point later because incidentally 32°F and 212°F are exactly 180° apart, making them intuitively sit on opposite sides of an analog rotational-display thermometer.

@PSA_Sitch @Timoyr3 @Notwithsitting I mean it makes more sense than expanding the scale and arbitrarily making Water boil at what we label as 200 or 1000 so you get a more granular scale. Metric is better if you are calculating things, doing science or math, Imperial is more useful for everyday things like cooking.

@ReborntheHunter @YukimuraTsubame Grok seems to do an okay job if you ask how it would it would be received after translated, if you add specifics ("analyze the tone/intonation/politeness,perceived intention, etc".) Would be a pain to do for each tweet though.

@YukimuraTsubame I wish I could see what I was saying in Japanese. I run it through Google Translate and DeepL to check for clarity, but I can't know either are close. (Also, I think Google is using AI to contextualize statements.)

@Maelzel_opening Only the Subaru Outback specifically, due to an ad campaign about a decade ago. The stereotype lingers tho. Great vehicles and I love both that I've had. Sometimes American mechanics won't work on them tho. Curious though, in what way is it an otaku's car over there?

@iori787ko It's funny because I get a lot of Spanish/Portuguese posts in my TL, and they often react negatively to art with similar... "styles". At least vocally, especially Brazilians. Now I'm suspecting many of them were lying for engagement lol I love your art. Always happy to see it.

@SOU572942786118 @nM___0606___ Yeah. Japan is kinda the only other country they like, only because they like anime and think Japanese people all agree with them. Or blue-checkmark bot accounts from other countries, just for monetization, or to propagandize and polarize Western opinions into in-fighting.

@pirooooon3 It's kinda like "bring your own beer". It's obviously proper politeness to have one, but not everyone can grasp the subtleties of American culture on the first try. Explain the situation to the nearest American and they'll gladly provide you one to avert the awkward situation.

@swampratwatch @Noahpinion They didn't want the consequences of being party to a foreign culture war, they just wanted pics of delicious food and cool stuff. They'll jump the pot sure, but also bail the friendship, just because some idiots couldn't read the room and shut up a bit about domestic politics.

This is actually perfect. This is like the frog and boiling water. Americans got boiled slowly. This is exposing the Japanese to the consequences of woke ideology all at once and dumping the frog right into the boiling water. They'll naturally reject it wholesale and it'll make the entire society hate it right away.

@OhayoMybrother Haven't had the time to practice so my Japanese is incredibly rusty, but even just recalling what I do know and opening up the original text reveals so much. That said, asking Grok *usually* gives decent analyses of the intricacies if you know what to ask for.
