@saskia_plura The same reason software developers tend to prefer Unix based machines. The tooling on Windows isn't nice for writing programs, and Linux distros have a lot of manual configuration before one can become productive. Basically, everything you need just works out of the box for macs

Can somebody explain me why almost all scientists have MacBooks? I'm sitting in the lecture hall I'm seeing almost exclusively MacBooks around me. I mean I get it, they are nice computers, but sooo expensive! What makes them so special? Does one need one? Help? 😅

@AltAcChats @ashleyruba big-named tech companies have programs to filter people's resumes based on keywords. What you're describing is if they didn't have this in the first place

@__dommills @ashleyruba I imagine this is more likely to be the strategy for jobs with oversaturated pools of qualified applicants, so they wouldn’t worry too much about accidentally rejecting good candidates. Tech jobs at big-named companies for example.
