Actual historians of Fascism and Nazism have pointed out that without toleration and often active help of big business and "conservative" elites, Nazism in particular would have ended up being a footnote in history. Paxton stresses this in The Anatomy of Fascism...

I'm not an "own the libs" guy -- in fact, I am the polar opposite of such people and I especially hate that genre of social media -- but very few things make left wingers madder than pointing out, correctly, that Nazism was a virulently anti-capitalist, pro-socialist movement.

Don't buy the "Bibi is the real problem" narrative. Most Western governments will adopt that line in due course to go back to business as usual with Israel. The rot in Israel goes much deeper and the issue is now systemic. Example: this is supposed to be "the good guy".

Iran’s attack on the UAE should not fool anyone. Everyone can see that the Iranians are projecting weakness rather than strength. With much of its military and governing elite destroyed (thanks to the heroic joint action of the IDF and the US military), Iran has also been suffocating under US naval blockade. The regime can put up a facade for a short while. But behind the curtain, their economic and energy positions are rapidly deteriorating, and they feel the noose closing tighter around their necks. Desperate and with their options disappearing, the Iranians are lashing out, trying to cause pain to America’s allies, in order to make them pressure the White House to cave to Iranian demands. Of course, this won’t work, since with every Iranian aggression, the determination to deal with this threat - root and branch - only grows. Finally, some perspective. While the Middle East is going through difficult days, with effects felt worldwide, we should all be grateful that the current actions against Iran are taking place in a contained scenario, before the regime could finish developing in-house capacity to build 10,000+ ballistic missiles. If that had been allowed to happen, either the Iranians would have been able to cause 100x the damage they are causing now, or, worse, nobody would have dared to stop them from getting nuclear weapons for fear of the cost of preventive action. America and its allies - in Israel, in the Gulf, and elsewhere - have the upper hand now, and all that remains is to keep the pressure on, in whatever form that will take.

Australian submariners were ordered by the now head of the ADF to obey US submarine commanders’ orders… or face punishment. And then 140 souls died when an Iranian ship was sunk off the coast of Sri Lanka, by one of those US submarines. An investigation is probably the only way to now clear the air on this. “ The decision is being made, not in Canberra, it’s being made by US military personnel. “And if they want to give directives to the Australian military personnel embedded on this or any other submarine, what this document says is the Australians have to follow.”

For the first time since the 1967 occupation, Israel is expelling an entire Palestinian neighborhood in Jerusalem. The Silwan area, located near the "Holy Basin," the Temple Mount, and al-Aqsa Mosque, is home to many archaeological and historical sites of exceptional significance. As of April 2026, approximately 1,800 residents in Silwan are under threat of expulsion, after hundreds have already been uprooted and left homeless in the past two years. In Baten al-Hawa alone, 33 families have already been expelled, and 53 additional families, including 130 children, face a similar fate. In al-Bustan, Israel has already demolished 48 homes and plans to demolish the homes of 123 more families, which will lead to the expulsion of approximately 1,450 people. The expulsion in Silwan is part of a policy of ethnic cleansing throughout the entire West Bank. Link to the full article >> btselem.org/jerusalem/2026…

Marjan Yeshayayi, a member of the Tehran Jewish community, asked rescue workers not to use machinery [to clear the rubble] in order to preserve the scriptures. “When I made the request, I did not believe they would accept it, but instead they said, ‘OK, we will remove it manually,’ and they really did. Each brick was removed by hand, and the scrolls came out safely and were handed over to the Jewish community. rt.com/news/639415-te…

An update on this, today: Lawyers have just reported that Thiago Ávila is being subjected to "repeated interrogations lasting up to eight hours". Interrogators have explicitly threatened him, stating he will either be “killed” or “spend 100 years in jail". Both Ávila and Saif Abukeshek are being held in total isolation, under constant high-intensity lighting. Lawyers say this is as "a known Israeli Prison Service (IPS) practice specifically designed to induce sleep deprivation and sensory disorientation." Ávila has reported being held in extremely cold temperatures. Both men are kept "blindfolded at all times whenever they are moved outside their cells, including during medical examinations".

Events in Hormuz make clear that there's no military solution to a political crisis. As talks are making progress with Pakistan's gracious effort, the U.S. should be wary of being dragged back into quagmire by ill-wishers. So should the UAE. Project Freedom is Project Deadlock.

Handala hacker group leaks names of 400 US Navy officers in what it calls 'Operation Premature Death' —— The cyber resistance group Handala announced the successful breach and exposure of 400 senior US Navy officers currently deployed in the Persian Gulf as part of "Operation Premature Death." The group published a detailed list including ranks and operational units, claiming their "shadows" are monitoring every movement within the US fleet. Handala stated that a direct alert was sent to the secure phones of these officers, warning them that "the sea is no longer safe" for those choosing the path of aggression in West Asia. The statement emphasized a complete breakdown of US operational security, quoting, "This is proof that our eyes remain wide open and ever vigilant in the heart of your fleet." Handala framed the leak as a final warning to the US and its regional allies, asserting that no base or alliance can shield them from retribution. The group concluded the message with a promise of "death and destruction," declaring that the "executioner of justice and vengeance is closer than ever."
