@rsomething @nikicaga Pre Covid I used to work in Santa Monica while living in DTLA and it was an Expo ride almost to the door
But oh so often I’d just exit the train at USC and walked those few miles because the evening air is so pleasant and enjoyable
English

Lots of people coping about this
In 90% of America it would require walking alongside a highway for a good stretch of that

This will sound like an obnoxious “only in New York thing” but randomly deciding to walk 6 miles home from work because it’s a nice day and you want some fresh air is really an amazing experience you can’t get anywhere else

@the_UrbanWolf @amazonmilkfrog if we're talking about the US this older walkable city is likely to have been demolished in the 50s

English

@_artml_ @amazonmilkfrog True, but that usually implies suburbs, which implies a city center, which usually means an older walkable city.
Not always, but that is just how US cities evolved over time.

walkability is not how many people use transit. it's important to me that you know that
Noah Smith 🐇🇺🇸🇺🇦🇹🇼@Noahpinion
Philly, SF, DC, and Boston are all more walkable than Chicago.
English

@jakeonrails this trolley looks like shit, have the courage to build normal modern trams like civilized people do

English

@amazonmilkfrog How do people get to the transit station, go through it, and get to their destination?
I think you underestimate how many transit trips are tied to walking

@VirgoQuisqueya @ughfinewhatever You have free will and you chose THAT font lol?
