Xata 🦋
Xata 🦋@xata·
Xata is now open source. Apache 2.0. Postgres platform with Copy-on-write branching at the storage layer. Copy a TB-sized database in seconds. Inactive copies scale to zero automatically. 100% vanilla Postgres. Two use cases driving this: • Preview and testing environments with real production data • Platforms provisioning per-user Postgres at scale Built on CloudNativePG + OpenEBS. Runs on Kubernetes. What's in the release: • SQL gateway, responsible for routing, IP filtering, waking up scaled-to-zero clusters, serving the serverless driver over HTTP / websockets, etc. • Branch operator managing all resources related to a branch. • Clusters and projects services for the control-plane and REST APIs • Auth service, based on Keycloack for API keys • CLI that makes use of the REST API • Scale-to-zero CNPG plugin for automatically hibernating branches on inactivity This is the first of several announcements. More next week.

₹25,000 crore (~$3B) MoU Given to a WhatsApp chatbot that makes Shinchan stickers. Puch AI founded 9 months ago. > Zero funding raised. > Zero data centers built. > Zero AI models published. > Zero enterprise clients. Their entire product is: you text a WhatsApp number, it sends you memes and fact-checks your uncle's forwards. This company is now supposed to build "AI Parks," "large-scale data center infrastructure," and an "AI University." Meanwhile in America, Chase Lochmiller (MIT Math+Physics, Stanford CS, summited Everest) spent YEARS building Crusoe. Raised $600M+. Secured $3.4B in JV funding. Actually builds data centers. Got there through proof of work, not proof of access. > India has Yotta running 60-70% of the country's GPU capacity. > Has Sarvam actually training foundational Indian language models. > Has dozens of founders burning savings to deploy real compute. None of them got a ₹25,000 crore government handshake. A WhatsApp bot with a fancy phone number (9090909090) and a Messi sponsorship did. The CEO is already doing photo-ops with defence ministers while his company hasn't deployed a single rack. This is not how you build AI infrastructure. Every real builder in this country just got told the same thing again: it's not about what you build. It's about who you know. India doesn't have a talent problem. India has an allocation problem. We deserve better.
Umesh Kumar@itsumeshk

We live in a country where a ₹25,000 crore large-scale data center infrastructure deal is signed with a company that's essentially a chatbot on WhatsApp 🙂 Feeling sad for every founder, every company who is building from Bharat for Bharat, putting all their efforts. No wonder why America and China are years ahead of us. In America, Chase Lochmiller is building the biggest data center the world has ever seen not because he has some backing or is funding political parties, but because he is capable and already has history and proof of work. He is MIT Math+Physics, Stanford CS, climbed Mt. Everest But I have a hope one day these things will change and the right people will get the opportunity not the ones funding parties and having big backing.

When I woke up, I decided to check my laptop quick to see if I could fix anything quickly before showering and starting my day. It's now 7pm. I got through over 100 PRs. I haven't moved from my desk. I still haven't put pants on.

TLDR: it is a cron job dispatching tickets from Linear to workers, each of which is a Ralph loop using a Linear comment as draft pad for persisted state. Yes it is all you need. Beautifully designed and minimal. github.com/openai/symphony

Drizzle ORM
Drizzle ORM@DrizzleORM·
As of today, Drizzle has become the most sustainablest ORM on Earth 🚀 PlanetScale hired entire Drizzle core team to work on Drizzle ORM full-time, which is just… WOW! I mean, I can’t believe this is happening and how amazing this is going to be... Let’s address the most important things: ▪︎ The governance of Drizzle does not and will not change ▪︎ Drizzle remains independent and open-source ▪︎ We will now work more full-timer on Drizzle ORM, Kit and Studio ▪︎ Our social media manager(me) will finally have a salary ▪︎ Drizzle v1 is going to be amazing Thank you all for using Drizzle, without you there won’t be 1.2k GitHub issues and 355 PRs, we’d live a happy life, touching grass ❤️

If you thought your company's edge was "how fast you ship", you're in for a rude awakening. Everyone can ship fast now. Obviously, not everyone can ship tastefully, with quality and restraint in mind. That's the new edge.

I hate these "coding isn't the hard part" tweets I have been a part of and seen several companies not just struggling with "the right decision" but the culmination of their past technical decisions. AI won't magically make this go away. Lines of Code is still a liability and producing it faster doesn't change or reduce it, if anything it increases liability. Room temperature Twitter take strikes yet again

everyone's talking about their teams like they were at the peak of efficiency and bottlenecked by ability to produce code here's what things actually look like - your org rarely has good ideas. ideas being expensive to implement was actually helping - majority of workers have no reason to be super motivated, they want to do their 9-5 and get back to their life - they're not using AI to be 10x more effective they're using it to churn out their tasks with less energy spend - the 2 people on your team that actually tried are now flattened by the slop code everyone is producing, they will quit soon - even when you produce work faster you're still bottlenecked by bureaucracy and the dozen other realities of shipping something real - your CFO is like what do you mean each engineer now costs $2000 extra per month in LLM bills

You might've missed this but Frank recently rolled out a mega-update to how SST deploys frontends. It all started with a pretty small CloudFront pre:Invent announcement. It unlocked our dream setup. There's a lot going on but the biggest change is the updated Router component. You can now use it to share a single CDN across your entire app, across multiple frontends, and multiple endpoints. You can share it across stages to really speed up preview deploys. I added a guide on how to configure this, link below. It can also serve your frontend from multiple regions now, requests will be automatically routed to the region closest to the user. As a part of this, we now support React Router v7 and TanStack Start. And we updated our Astro support to v5.

I’m starting a community for cracked AI builders. Claude Code. Codex. Cursor. Conductor. It doesn’t matter. All I care about is that you’re building or you’re hungry to learn. We’re sharing workflows, skills, repos, plugins, etc. Want to join? Comment below and I’ll reach out.
