The Rio Grande Depot is a historic downtown Salt Lake City landmark with massive opportunity. The @RioGrandePlan, which would bury the rails downtown to reconnect the west and east side, is an incredible idea that has huge potential for Salt Lake City and Utah at large. However, a transfer of the site to the University of Utah was snuck in at the last second to a big budget bill which would use the depot for drone testing instead of benefiting the community. I'm calling on Governor Cox to put a hold on this transfer so we can hear from the community and experts to figure out what the real best use case for the site is.
