if you don’t power-use your own product, you don’t deserve users. last week i got kinda addicted to my own baby, @perpdotfun. here’s what stood out. —— context: - i use a lot of defi & i’ve dabbled with perps for years. 99% of apps still feel like you gotta be sat down at the big screen for it. - until now, i’d never used mobile for any of it. - would i leave the house with a fat long on? 0 chance. ——— i’m hooked on the mobile ux. i’m opening, closing, monitoring on the go. catching candles at the gym. taking profits at the pub. it’s quickly become instinct to use this app on my phone instead of my station. this is a design win. the product itself is stripped back to the basics. really, i don’t need the amount of info i get on pro apps. I think that's the case with most other traders too. not because i don’t understand it, but because i use perpfun with a clear goal. place the trade with conviction. let me get there fast and easy. enter amount, leverage, direction, go. it’s made me realize perpfun isn’t training wheels. it’s just a simpler, more realistic way to trade perps. ——— the other cool thing: perpfun isn’t a web3 dapp. it’s a 100% abstracted web2 app. stripped the complexity out of the thing. ^ this part really clicked when i onboarded a friend last week: - signed up with google - used apple pay to deposit - copytrading a top trader within 2 minutes this is not how crypto UX usually goes. no wallet connect. no chain switching. no seed phrase scaries. s/o for the embedded wallets. literally extracting the cursed nature of web3 onboarding. btw she’s up 60% and proud asf. fair play. ——— anyway, fun week being a real user. I traded well, so now i'm a pilot that can be copytraded ;) still much to do. sourcing liquidity. balancing skew. speeding execution. but good products make you want to use them. this feels like one. 🤠
