I used to be clever, y’all. Before #benzos stole my creativity and cleverness, I had good ideas. Last summer during my taper, I thought of this “slogan.” Today, this beautiful shirt came - courtesy of my daughter & our Insta friend, Rachel at sunny.saturdays!

I remember when we published our study back in 2019 exposing that around half of antidepressant users will experience withdrawal. There was a public/professional outcry; our reputations & jobs threatened. Now it’s broadly accepted knowledge.
Psychiatry Letter@NassirGhaemi

Serotonin withdrawal syndrome, a controversial but significant issue, affects over 50% of patients on SRIs after a year or more of treatment. Early studies suggesting low rates are likely flawed. #Psychiatry #SRI #MentalHealth

@tylerblack32 UHS operates ECT facilities, controls patients, and authored the study concluding patients are satisfied with ECT & adverse effects “have less influence on satisfaction” than symptom relief is exactly the finding a for-profit ECT provider has institutional incentive to produce

Trying to declare victory without a W. This "professor" seems to be institutionally homeless and has an AI image for their profile :)

@HenryRunamucker You have demonstrated your ignorance of both critical appraisal and medicine, so I think it’s best you simmer down about psychiatry too - something else you know nothing about.

One of the things patients harmed by prescribed psychotropic drugs will hear from mental health professionals is that all drugs have adverse effects. I've known about the gamble I take with alcohol for some time. I can't say the same for psychiatric drugs. Avoid avoidable harm.

Alcohol, of course. Society’s favourite psychotropic which kills 3 X as many people per year than all prescription medications combined.

@m_aadil @Phuxlea You are presenting APs as a solution to cortical thinning based on weak associations when the causal data shows it makes the problem worse, even when the patients achieve remission. A bit rich given you started by accusing the blogger of "presenting associations as causation"?

Major court ruling in Quebec finds that lack of informed consent is standard practice in benzodiazepine prescribing, and therefore the physician is not legally liable, even when the patient suffers debilitating, long-term withdrawal symptoms. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think the term 'withdrawal injury' is useful, odd though it may sound. A process occurs on withdrawal that cannot always be reversed by re-instatement and can take a very long time to heal. An obvious eg is a severe seizure caused by benzo wd leading to l-t impairment

Imagine a doctor refusing to diagnose you with a condition for which you have the symptoms, because the doctor believes the condition is rare, and therefore there's an imaginary quota on how many people are allowed be diagnosed with that, and you're not one of those people.

I’m looking for stories from people who have been injured by pharmaceuticals to add to a website I put together on pharmaceutical induced injury. Please share. Hopefully this website can help push for much needed change. My story is on there already.

Apparently the constant nausea, headaches, fatigue, dizziness, stomach pain, acid reflux, liquid sloshing in stomach, burning face, hives, dry eyes and mouth, peeling bleeding lips, swollen lymph nodes, chilblains, thyroid issues are psychosomatic? Disgusting. #LongCovid #MCAS
Adam@ABrokenBattery

🧵 Suzanne O’Sullivan on the @amolrajan podcast says #LongCOVID is psychosomatic for a large proportion of patients. There are several problems with this claim.

The agonizing, painful, beautiful discovery that sometimes it’s not “treatment-resistant mental illness” that’s fueling your problems, but rather the treatment 🐦‍🔥

@DoctorPerin What is the hope for long term patients who are resistant to treatment?

45 y/o mom can’t remember taking her daughter to the doctor or what he told her. She’s repeating stories constantly and losing short term memories. Now she’s terrified it’s early Alzheimer’s. Is this just “aging”… or Long Covid destroying memories in millions?! I am seeing so many posts like this and no way this is normal!
