My Cavista Hackathon Experience Part 1: How it all started Cavista Hackathon has always been on our radar. The interesting thing is that a team from our school actually won the previous edition. So when we heard about it again, we felt the pressure in a good way. The goal was simple. Represent our school again and see if we could bring the win home once more. But our team did not start at Cavista. It actually started earlier at the Lagos Impact Hackathon. Three of my teammates attended that one while I could not make it because of some unforeseen circumstances. That was where the foundation of the team was built. At that time, the team name was Centenize. However, when it was time to register for the Cavista Hackathon, we looked at the name again and realized it did not really represent what we wanted. So we decided to rethink it and come up with something better. After some thinking, we chose the name #Nibble. In computing, four bits make one nibble. The idea behind the name was simple. Individually we may just be bits, but when we come together we form something complete and more powerful. That name stuck. Before the hackathon started, we also spent time studying previous Cavista winners and the kind of solutions they built. We wanted to understand the level of the competition before stepping in. Luckily, everyone who registered from our side was available, and we were also able to add one more teammate to strengthen the squad. With the team set and the mission clear, we were ready to represent our school. Part 2 will be about how we came up with the project idea and how the project itself got its name.

Two weeks off. Exams called. I answered. Had to lock in, focus, and handle school properly. But even in that period, I was still building quietly. Shipped a few things. Learned a few lessons. Got better. This weekend I’ll be back in the comments, engaging properly and catching up on what I missed. Also dropping a few things I’ve been working on. More consistent from here. Let’s run it.

🤔Thoughts after switching between 5+ LLMs and IDEs lately. The "best" model constantly changes depending on the release cycle and how each IDE harnesses them. But based on the past month, here’s my current go-to stack and why. 🛠️ Each model actually has a distinct vibe when it comes to coding: Claude Opus 4.6: Feels safe and steady, getting the job done without fuss. Gemini: Fast and highly focused on efficient coding. Codex (5.3 Extra High): Highly logical. It doesn't just write code; it organizes the process and aligns the output with the actual goal. Because of this, I now entrust Codex with not just coding, but also heavy refactoring and user flow design. (My absolute #1 for dev right now 💻) At work, I use Codex as my main tool to build internal business automation tools, followed by Claude and Cursor. I even use Codex to generate charts for proposals directly into HTML. (Set up a local 'Graphic Generator' to pull them on demand 📊) For the rest of my workflow: ✍️ Emails, Blogs, & Content: Gemini is still the GOAT. 🤖 Multi-agent teams & Open-source (e.g., Continuous Claude): Claude takes the win. ✨ Visual Assets: Gemini 3.1 Pro is incredibly good at generating things like SVG 3D assets, so I've been delegating those visual tasks to it as well. For product docs, I've been relying on Claude, but moving forward, I'll likely switch to Gemini 3.1 Pro inside Cursor. The workflow keeps evolving. 🚀

Google AI Studio is still one of the most underrated AI tools out there. It is free, which makes it even more surprising.
