Give the EPA greater oversight on any expansion of asbestos use. Close a regulatory loophole that previously allowed manufacturers to resume old asbestos uses without review. This will make it MORE difficult, to reintroduce asbestos into new products. In 2024 the Biden EPA finalised a ban on chrydolite asbestos primarily used in gaskets and brake pads, this would be phased in, in variois sectors from 6 months to 12 years. What is happening now is the Trump administration is reviewing whether chrydolite asbestos should in fact be banned as a feasible replacement is proving difficult for industry to find. The EPA, under Lee Zeldin is investigating if the ban is necessary or if stricter work place protections will suffice. So no. There is not a wholesale overturning of asbestos bans in the US as this sensationalist headline suggest. That is a lie. They will not be building houses with asbestos, nor put it in clothing or anything like that. They are debating if banning a very specific type of asbestos in a very specific industry makes sense. So stop the panic, and pay attention to the nuances for once in your life.
