No fuel readout on the Lotus at the time (they only got one in Germany) so Ayrton pretty much had to guess how fast he could run
If you were being critical, you could say he should have realised he was running too fast when Prost (who had a readout) started to rapidly drop back

@_harryslade @AndyGraham22 It didn’t cost him any positions which was more my point. His pace was so bad it didn’t cost him any positions, whereas if he quickly overtakes max, max would have got Russell 👍🏽👍🏽

because im me i have to mention lewis went pole-pole-p2-pole in four races for his first three poles and that p2 was him as a rookie with a world champion teammate in p10 as he split the fastest ferraris into pole and p3.

@vetvidivici Personally think he just faced better competition. Schumacher slapped him. RAI matched him, ALO went on to beat MAS and RAI by similar margins. Cross comparisons aren’t gospel, but it tracks a little too well for me.
