Former church deacon 77-year-old John Grant has been found guilty of sexual offences against four young men committed between 1970 and 2012. He was a senior figure in churches across the UK. He was convicted of: • 3 counts of sexual assault • 6 counts of indecent assault • 2 counts of causing another person to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity He will be sentenced on Friday, 11 September. Police are appealing for any other potential survivors to come forward.

Congressman Ro Khanna said he was detained by Israeli settlers for over an hour while visiting the West Bank. Khanna also said members of the Israel Defense Forces spoke with the settlers and moved a car to block the road. Khanna's experience was first reported by The New York Times. A spokesperson for the congressman confirmed the details of the Times' report to CBS News. The Israeli military said they intervened after receiving a report of settlers blocking vehicles near Khirbet Zanuta and "troops dispersed the Israeli civilians and allowed the vehicles to continue on their way." Khanna described his experience in the West Bank and Israel as "the first time that I have really been acutely aware of being brown." "I feel like people have seen me first as brown, second as an American congressman, and third as an American citizen," he said.

And Christians are supposed not to discuss this? The definition of Genocide arose after the second world war, for good reason. It’s used in relation to Israel and Palestine for good reason. But remove that word from the conversation and you still get the most abominable behaviour by a state on a civilian population, on an ethnic group - possibly since the second world war - certainly the longest running. Arguing about the legal definition of Genocide as pro Israeli voices do, or arguing that a court needs to make a ruling before we can call it - that’s perverse. Does the chief Rabbi have no moral code?
