South Africa won’t allow Starlink to be licensed, even though I was BORN THERE, simply because I am not Black! We were offered many times the opportunity to bribe our way to a license by pretending that a Black guy runs Starlink SA, but I have refused to do so on principle. Racism should not be rewarded no matter to which race it is applied. Shame on the racist politicians in South Africa. They should be shown no respect whatsoever anywhere in the world and shunned for being unashamedly RACISTS!
DogeDesigner@cb_doge

Why Elon Musk is RIGHT to fight South Africa’s racist rules blocking Starlink? Imagine this: Long ago, South Africa had very unfair laws called apartheid. They treated Black people badly and kept them from good jobs and money. When those bad laws ended, the country made new rules (called B-BBEE) to help Black people get a fair share of business. The idea was good – like a big helping hand. But now? For companies like Starlink to sell fast internet, they MUST give away 30% of their business to Black partners. Just because of skin color. Elon Musk was born in South Africa. He left as a teen to chase big dreams. Today, his company SpaceX wants to bring Starlink – super fast satellite internet – to South Africa. But the rules say no unless they give up part of the company. Elon said it right: “Starlink is not allowed because I’m not Black.” SpaceX promised to spend about $30 million (that’s 500 million rand!) to give FREE high-speed internet to 5,000 rural schools. That helps over 2.4 MILLION kids every year learn better, get jobs later, and have a brighter future. Real help for the people who need it most! Starlink already works in about 24 other African countries. Villages there now have internet for school, doctors, and business. South Africa’s villages are missing out because of these racist rules. Elon isn’t asking for special favors. He just wants fair play so Starlink can connect everyone fast. Internet = education, jobs, hope. Why hold back millions of kids over rules that pick by race and color?

#notsafe

When even law enforcement is like: "Go to America, this is not your country." Limpopo... not surprised. It opens up the conversation for political bias when representatives of law and order are engaging in their duties via a political lens, and begs the question of whether they treat all citizens equally under the law in the performance of those duties. Complete breakdown here and zero professionalism.

Hey @elonmusk The South African government says there are no race-regulated laws in South Africa. I see @Starlink still isn't coming to South Africa. Do race-regulated laws have anything to do with you investing here?

Be careful of fancy headlines. It's misleading. ❌South Africa did not create any new jobs. It is impossible with the stagnant GDP while we add more people to the labour force. 💡Stats SA has overhauled the Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS), which means the stats are not comparable to previous versions. The new system refines how employment, informality, and work relationships are classified. This kind of “methodology revamp” often changes the headline unemployment rate, even if not a single person actually gets a job. So we're reclassifying some people who were previously counted as “unemployed” into other categories like “potential labour force” or “out of the labour force.” That means: 👉 fewer people counted as “unemployed” 👉 more people counted as “not economically active” (but still jobless in reality) 👉 hence, the headline unemployment rate drops on paper. ✅The “Potential Labour Force” Reclassification Under the old system, anyone without a job but wanting work could be counted as unemployed even if they hadn’t looked for work recently. The new system follows the ILO’s 19th ICLS rule, which says: To be “unemployed,” a person must (a) not have a job, (b) be available to work, and (c) have actively sought work recently. If they want a job but haven’t looked recently (maybe because there are no jobs nearby, or they’ve given up), they’re now put in a new category: “potential labour force.” These people used to boost the unemployment rate; now they don’t. South Africa has many “discouraged work-seekers” so they’ll mostly shift into this new category, reducing the official unemployment rate. ✅Changes to “Informal Work” Definitions Previously, some informal workers (especially those in tiny or unregistered enterprises) were not always counted as employed if the work was irregular or unpaid. The new methodology is more inclusive of informal employment, recognising any productive work, including those who earn informally without registration. ✅Expanded “Underemployment” and “Underutilization” Instead of simply counting someone as “unemployed” if they want more work, the survey now introduces time-related underemployment. This can shift people from “unemployed” to “underemployed,” which still signals job strain, but doesn’t affect the headline rate. The unemployment number goes down, even though more people are still struggling with too little work. ✅Broader Working-Age Universe By dropping the fixed “15–64” limit and allowing older ages, the base population (denominator) used to calculate rates expands. If more older people are counted as “out of the labour force,” the share of unemployed people as a percentage of the total working-age group becomes smaller. There's a light mathematical compression, so the rate goes down a bit more.

SECURITY SERVICES KEEP ORANIA SAFE: Sunday morning, 04:17 a.m. Suspects apprehended Orania Security Services (OVD) is a professional, registered security company and a full subsidiary of the Orania Town Council. The OVD control room operator was sharply alert early this past Sunday morning when, just after 04:00, he noticed a suspicious vehicle on the road outside Orania. It was clear that the occupants were trying to get around a closed gate to gain access to Orania. The vehicle, which was already partially broken down, got stuck. The occupants then tried to enter Orania on foot. Their extremely suspicious behavior was enough to trigger immediate action. The standby team was activated, as well as the Response Team and Task Force personnel. At that stage as security teams reacted, the suspects—unaware that they were being fully monitored—had already entered a business area and stolen property. Some of the suspects were on foot, while others remained with their vehicle. The OVD standby, Task Force, and Response Team personnel reacted with a synchronised encirclement of the two sets of suspects. After a short conversation, a full confession of guilt was made, after which the suspects were placed under arrest. This was not an attempted violent attack, but Orania Security Services and all teams involved consider the theft of residents’ property completely unacceptable and will, every time and to the best of their ability, repel, pursue, and arrest criminal elements. We are very grateful to the Orania Town Council’s OVD team, as well as to all the volunteers involved.
