@AutoPap Could definitely see as a Model 3 replacement for me in a few years. Good platform, good tech, good performance and a perfect sporty saloon. I’m in 🫡

Anyone who's my age will probably look at this and wince. However we're not the demographic BMW are appealing to anymore. Do the younger people on here like it?

Isn’t quite true Tim. AC and DC is the same at cell level, as an AC charger goes via the vehicles on-board charger to convert AC-DC to get into the cell. What you do avoid with AC is most of the heat inflicted by higher power charging, which is what causes degradation when prolonged. However, storing at higher SoCs really isn’t the best, AC or DC, even for LFP which only needs full-charging to calibrate the BMS often, since the difference in voltage between empty and full is so small. Key things are don’t store really full or really empty for long periods, and don’t keep hot often. That’s pretty much it. Buffers can hide a lot of degradation, and most car in-built state of health % are bollocks. The only true test to a full depletion test to see how many true kWh you can get out. All that said, BMSs are awesome these days, and even the most abused packs are doing great, so not worth worrying too much about, I’m just a nerd 🔋

Much talk still goes on about charging to 80% and how 100% damaged the battery. Well yes, that is the case on DC rapid charging, but if you charge at home on an AC 7.4kW charger you'll be absolutely fine charging to 100%. Example: Our old Smart ForTwo EQ was charged to 100%, and run down to 5% three or four times a week, for 28,000 miles. I took it to be serviced just before it went back and it had 98% battery capacity. We knew that of course as the range hadn't changed in those 28k miles.

Time to unplug 🌲🥾 Model 3 really does soak up the lake district roads… effortlessly fast, nearly 5 miles/kWh, a big boot for bags and a handy frunk for muddy boots. Such a brilliant road tripper⚡️

@MrMikeStanton @BeEV_Charging In fact, the CPID shows it’s MFS, or ‘Mer Fleet Services’, so this’ll continue to be a Mer Fleet charger - not coming to us I’m afraid 😊

@LewisStanding1 @ctrlaltrefuel @BeEV_Charging To be completely open with you – this is a result of a phased rollout of the off-peak taking longer than expected. We’re completely on the same page, and hope it won’t be the way for much longer. We’re on it

@_james_gee_ @ctrlaltrefuel @BeEV_Charging Overnight 7pm till 7am its 39p for an ultra rapid charger You've just bought MER who have a lot of colocated AC and DC units in say council car parks. I could potentially use the AC or DC chargers overnight. AC is 45p/KWh DC 39p/KWh You're incentivizing me to block the DC
