Who else is hella sick from the convention? I took all the booster shots and medicine beforehand, didnt share drinks/food and used a crap ton of hand sanitizer and immediately got sick lol

@TyyRexOfficial i went to the EU and US cons and i feel like the security in the EU was way better. also much less IRL streaming, antisocial behaviour, and ppl making a scene.

LONG POST: Now that Twitchcon’s over I can put together my thoughts on the event. There were many positive points, but also some things (mostly behavioral) that made it worse than years prior. Overall, I had a good experience meeting community members and networking with other streamers/brands. Those are the primary reasons I come to these conventions and I feel from that end, it was a success. However, IRL streaming at Twitchcon needs to change. The amount of inconsiderate camera shoving and lack of spatial awareness from some of these streamers was astounding. Not to mention those trying to rage bait or make a scene just to try to get attention. It detracted from the con in a big way because, in my opinion, the whole reason to go to a convention like Twitchcon is to interact with people irl because what we do is inherently isolating. It’s one thing to genuinely stream and show off the con, it’s another to be an ass. Also, idk when the whole “camera man” thing became so popular but I was essentially ran over by several who didn’t so much as acknowledge it. Again, the inconsiderate, entitled behavior was ridiculous and over the top. Despite security concerns, Twitch was somehow still lackadaisical. People were getting in without functional wristbands, staff were forcing people to remove protective face masks yet letting complete rando’s walk in without checks, and the way the @emiru situation was handled was flat out dangerous and negligent. I don’t know if people are too young to remember Christina Grimmie but she was killed at a meet & greet which very well could have happened this weekend. I had friends who were able to enter the block party without tickets or security checks and there was a local store selling switchblades during. So yeah, not great. Overall, I wish Twitch would take streamer’s concerns more seriously. I can’t blame people for choosing not to go, it certainly felt less uplifting than last year. If they don’t start listening, people aren’t going to show up anymore. Plain and simple.
