I am incredibly honoured to have been approached to stand to be the next Chancellor of Cambridge University. My goal is to ensure that the University remains a world-leading force for truth, progress, and inclusion that doesn't just reflect society but actively shapes it for the better. As Chancellor, I would modernise Cambridge’s institutional culture, promote its global standing, and safeguard its core values of academic freedom, fairness, evidence-based reasoning, and enlightened thinking. At a time when our global systems are under threat and we are facing critical threats from climate change and AI, these principles are more important than ever. I also hope to break new ground by becoming the first woman Chancellor in Cambridge’s 800-year history. Representation matters, and every student and member of staff should feel that this institution belongs to them. I want to promote a culture where everyone in the Cambridge community can voice their opinions, concerns and ideas for the collective good of the university and wider society.
