There is a troubling new brand of politics taking root in the Mountain. Intimidation, threats and fear. Last night, I had to help evacuate TWENTY UDA mobilizers from Rurii, Ol Kalou. They were so shaken that their only request was to spend the night at a police station, believing it was the only place they would be safe. I have since arranged and paid for hotel accommodation for them, where they remain as they await calm. This is not who we are. No Kenyan should live in fear because of their political beliefs. Democracy thrives on persuasion, not intimidation, on ideas, not threats. I urge the Police Service to move swiftly against those instigating violence, issuing threats, or terrorizing fellow citizens. The law must protect every Kenyan equally. Elections should never turn neighbours into enemies. We can compete fiercely at the ballot, shake hands afterwards, and continue building our communities together. 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗹𝗼𝘂 𝗕𝘆-𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched investigations into incidents of violence and disruption reported during the Ol Kalou by-election, including the involvement of armed and hooded individuals. Detectives are actively pursuing all credible leads through forensic examination of available evidence, analysis of digital material, witness interviews and other investigative processes to identify and apprehend those responsible. The DCI affirms that all persons found to have planned, financed, incited or participated in the criminal acts will be brought to justice. No individual will be exempt from the due process of the law on account of status, position or political affiliation. Members of the public with additional information that may assist the investigations are urged to share it confidentially through the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line 0800 722 203 or via WhatsApp on 0709 570 000. The DCI will provide updates as investigations progress. In collaboration with sister services in the National Police Service and other relevant institutions, the Directorate remains steadfast in preventing electoral violence, safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that all acts of criminality are investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
