Some thoughts after a day with Gemini and GPT4: General purposes tasks: - really difficult to tell the difference between them for basic queries - gpt4 still undisputed GOAT at coding - Gemini is in an entirely different league when it comes to writing. It’s not even close - gpt4 still takes the edge when it comes to reason I am excited to see that Gemini is definitely faster and that’s the most important part to me as someone building agents Will swap out a lot of gpt4 purely based on cost and speed, and I will route more content related tasks to Gemini in the future But workhorse for complex reason is still gpt4

Most of the AI-generated images you are used to seeing around here are attempts at art, with a few models & famous people thrown in. So you may not realize it is really good at producing convincing photos of standard boring scenes. I generated these fake conference photos.

I shared the post with the recruiting team so they are aware of your feedback. If you are doing foundational research on llms you have to have an extremely specific skill set so it doesn't surprise me that the requirement is that specific. The levels of optimizations these folks work on is extremely advanced, low-level kernel optimizations and fast paced. Also it has to be done at the largest scale compute.

Also he fails to go into detail about costs which is important since the LVCVA already did a traffic study showing that a subway cost billions and concluded that it is something they could never do in Vegas.

Watching people melt down because Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood are advocating for people to help refugees in Ukraine who have had their homes, hospitals and schools indiscriminately bombed by invading Russian forces, while these same people also pretend to care about humanity, is a bit disconcerting. - At least 6 Million Ukrainian civilians have had to flee their homes and their nation. - At least another 8 Million Ukrainians have had to relocate within Ukraine. I understand that there are homeless people in the United States. Helping both groups is not mutually exclusive. There are children who have had their homes destroyed, schools destroyed, friends killed, parents killed and lives turned upside down. To attack Garth because he's trying to help these people, is about as pathetic as it gets.

Tried to grab a Starlink for a family camping trip but was too short notice to have it shipped on time. Look on Facebook marketplace and people are *renting them out* for $25-30/day. Guy has 7 of them, all fully rented. He’s clearing almost $5k/month by renting out Starlinks.
