For many, Urbit is an info-hazard. "What if you had a computer that would be yours, forever?" Presented as a simple question, but when answered in depth, it goes right to the underpinning of our digital lives. First a curiosity, "huh, what are these strange ~bleep-blorp identifiers." Then a desire, "Sure would be nice if I had an always on personal server..." Finally, the inevitability, "Welp, I see why in order to get a computer that is truly mine... We need to rewrite the entire networked computing stack from scratch!" @sitful_hatred was drawn in from the realm of decentralized and censorship resistant systems. Urbit was different, a proposition to replace everything outright, but clearly in the same tradition.

Tlon’s Urbit-native verifier is now live. this service, run by Tlon, cryptographically attests to other pieces of your digital property and identity you control. for now, you can verify a phone number and a single X account: 1) on your TM mobile app, tap your sigil (the symbol on the bottom right) or profile picture, then click it again on the next page. 2) click edit profile on the top right, scroll down to the bottom, and tap on X. follow the instructions to get your text to copy, paste and post to your X account. once verified, your Tlon Messenger profile will show you verified a phone number (which will not be visible) and/or an X account (which will be visible). eventually, this will make you discoverable by others who have your phone number but not your @ p. we're also currently working on the option to verify that you own domains, other (booted and running) Urbit IDs, wallets, and other social accounts.
