Currently sitting in the gym reflecting on where I’m at after 4 years of coaching. From the year before I got to Woodsboro and Cleveland, to my first years there, and my second years at each school. That slow grind life tough but it’s good to sit back and acknowledge progress.

I learned the most about how to play basketball when I played with grown men on Friday and Saturday mornings.. 7am-10am every week from 6th grade through HS If you didn’t pass & cut, screen away, play defense, move without the ball or take the correct shots, you sat & watched

People make all the reasons they can think as to why DFW has had success in sports but it boils down to lifestyle. Yes there are other factors, but the biggest one is that competition is brutal starting young and people take sports serious starting young. Some of my closest friends raise their families in DFW. You got college athletes raising their kids in environments where competition is high and training/working several times per week is the bare minimum.

@DelCurrent Add…. Gym access!!! We can ALWAYS get in a gym when we need one from a local hs coach while playing in events in DFW. “I got keys to the gym” relationships. Major factor in domination.

Recruits: If your HS coach is telling you to visit D2 and D3 schools, it’s not because they don’t believe in you, it’s because they want you to be able to find a home to play. If you are a JR with no offers going into the summer, the likelihood of a D1 school offering is slim

Taking over and building a program a year ago that recently became a 6A from the 4A level has been a challenge. But focusing on the small wins has helped tremendously. Hanging my hat on Defense has been my biggest benefit! Proud of the progress that’s been made! #slowgrind

I went to a clinic and I heard @Coach_EdOrgeron say “your job as assistant coach is to make your head coach look good” and that has stuck with me throughout my career. If the head guy wins that means we probably are all winning! Trust the process be loyal work hard!
