AI is already smarter than most of humanity and can do way more tasks much better.
If you showed today's latest agents to people in the past, they would definitely accept it as AGI.

I agree with Elon’s view, but that scenario is only possible if AI isn't monopolized.
Here’s an interesting fact: 112 years ago, Ford workers worked 8 hours a day, and made $5 a day.
In today’s value, that’s about $200 a day, which is higher than current minimum wage. Back then, average home prices were around $3,500, which was about one year of wages.
Today, buying a home takes decades of wages.
Just like this, productivity gains from technological progress don't trickle down to ordinary people. That’s what a monopoly is.

Elon Musk says that within the next ten years, money will completely disappear and you will own no money because there will be no need for it, as robots and AI will provide everything you need. Musk compares AI and robots to "a personal God" that will provide humans with everything they need, including food, housing, transportation, and entertainment. "If robots and AI are providing more goods and services than any human could possibly consume, what do you need money for in that case?"

However, the drop in birth rates today isn't coming from comfort—it's coming from the exact opposite reason.
Here is the situation in South Korea, which had the lowest birth rate in the world:
Wage growth completely failed to keep up with basic housing costs and inflation.
Once young people realized they could never buy a home or afford the cost of raising a child on an average salary, most started speculating on stocks and crypto.
What made this worse was social media like Instagram.
People spent money on expensive foreign cars, luxury goods, and international travel just for show and flex, which made even more people feel relative deprivation. (Korea ranks at the top in luxury spending and supercar sales per capita, despite a median monthly income of just $2,000.)
At least from what I've seen and researched, the countries with the lowest birth rates are suffering from despair, not comfort.

A low birth rate due to extended periods of prosperity and low perceived external danger is the primary reason that Rome and most other powerful civilizations collapsed. Rome had a very high birth rate when under extreme pressure from Carthage and a low birth rate a few generations after Carthage, their last serious threat, was finally destroyed.
