I once attended a TLM by chance and didn't walk out wanting more of it (I actually walked out a bit disappointed. Were the prayers at the foot of the altar the Last Gospel supposed to be unheard by the average layperson???)

@Cineres1 Yup! They only do TLM at S. Nicolau for the Rorate Mass and very few other occasions (I can think of a first solemn Mass for a FSSP priest), the regular ones were moved to Conceição Velha (which is basically next door) after TC.

@Cineres1 It was the Rorate Mass at S. Nicolau in Lisbon. It was my only time in a TLM ever. I was going for the 10pm Mass one Friday and saw it was happening a couple of hours later and said "why not?"

I think so, especially at sung mass or high mass. Better chance of hearing them (even if only in a whisper) at a low mass, if you go up close to the front of the church. Of course whether high or low mass you can follow along in your missal even if you don’t hear anything. Can I ask if you attend the TLM in Portugal?

@WalkingHymnal I had a principal once who advised me, of troubled students, "let them have enough rope to hang themselves." I suspect that's Pope Leo's strategy in dealing with these folks. Give them just enough slack that, in the end, they reveal their own foolishness.

@cinnamonrib343 I know this couple who had 2 or 3 kids no longer that small, then they started taking the faith more seriously and had 4 or 5 more. One of the "second batch" is now a priest.

I've been told by older women they wish they would have had (more or any) children. today an older woman at church, who reverted late in life, told me she sees families with 4, 5, 6+ kids at our chapel and she aches knowing she and her husband prevented having any more than 2.
