@refactorfiend I’m getting old and at this level my area is kind of huge, so if there’s a spot in a code base I/we wanna return to, or an idea for solution/feature/whatever, it’s really helpful to just get it down - markdown, failing test, poc repo; then mentally offload

@refactorfiend Also designing features/applications - people bash spec driven stuff lately but I think getting ideas locked in and reviewing them and being able to forget about them is good. We also have context limits so I like not having to hold it all up here and get it down there instead

You’re the only one reframing this as an “all-or-nothing” argument. No one has claimed 100% or 0%.
The point is variability, which you’ve already acknowledged by saying other sources are needed. Fossil fuels are dispatchable, which is why they are used to cover those gaps.
I’ll leave it there. You’re repeating the same claim without support.

Bat's response replaces a reliability argument with a “100% output” strawman, shifts the metric away from variability, and then dismisses the position rather than addressing how short-term gaps are actually managed. There are at least seven logical issues in Bat’s response.
Variability is not a moot point. It is the exact issue that needs to be addressed with renewables.

The destruction of the planet to extract and manufacture rare earth for solar/batteries/turbines is more toxic.
The human cost/Slave labour/working conditions of extraction of cobalt and lithium etc is horrific.

When I arrived to London for the first time in my life, I exited the underground and saw this. Words cannot really describe how happy I was after spending my life in Hungary, and just being able to take a small break from all that bs.
It’s totally worth it and it’s cheap.
