To @elonmusk and @nikitabier, please understand that those over X, whether intentional or not, have allowed a space where losers online are making six figures by posting AI slop, lies, and misinformation.
It is truly ruining public discourse and dividing our country even more. All of it is incentivized, and you have done hardly anything to stop it, at least taking minimal action until very recently.
Think about the fact that there are hardworking mothers and fathers who work 9–5 and do their best to take care of their kids while they struggle, while these dorks sit behind screens using AI to write clickbait captions, manufacture fake photos and videos, or outright lie about the news and current events, making well over $100,000 a year, well over the average household income in America. This is a moral indictment on those who oversee the monetization program here on X.
What you incentivize is what people are attracted to. Incentives are the number one rule of economics. What you’re currently incentivizing is clickbait, unoriginal, and in many cases AI slop. It will go away, or at least greatly diminish if you stop paying people for it.
There should be serious thought of demonetizing the app, or reforming the system with rigorous checks and requirements for monetized content. This app is cancerous because you reward the worst of it. It doesn’t have to be this way, but you’ve allowed it to be.
