The only people paying attention to how fringe and crazy the NDP convention was were online Conservatives. When Avi Lewis appears presentable and articulate in opposition to Mark Carney that’s what voters will see on the TV. This is a major win for the CPC.

Reading Blood Meridian. I wonder if there will ever be an author like Cormac McCarthy again, or if we’ve seen the last of the truly great writers. Every sentence he composes is art, like a painting. You see and feel what he’s trying to convey. He wrestles with big things, the human condition, good and evil. He doesn’t give you answers but he leaves you with a lot to think about. An absolute master of his craft. Not the last, I hope, but I don’t know.

@MapleLeaves34 The team doesn't match the fanbase. The average Leaf fan is a blue-collar, hardworking dude. The people in the stands don't match the fanbase either. It should have been dangerous for Gudas to leave the building. It wasn't. It's all a BS Nylander trip to the spa.

After 10 years its just frustrating to watch the same product over and over from the Leafs. No killer instinct. No team toughness. No burning desire to win. Everyone is too okay with losing, excuses are cliches, an apparent lack of care all around, and flat out no leadership.

Which book deserves a tv series/movie but still doesn't have one?

@RyanHoliday I spent the past two afternoons picking up all the trash on my street. I simply couldn't stand looking at it any longer. The act is wonderfully therapeutic.

@cterlson The prose is both apocalyptic and beautiful while the book is so magickal it feels like a talisman in your hands.
