@ajayflim @kalvetu So, the issue is that DMK government did not explain why they increased and now TVK will explain why they need to keep the increased rates. Ok, we will wait for that explanation - hopefully it comes soon.

@kalvetu No one has idea about TVK ,even in Kolathur the interior roads are poor even when you dig new bore well councilor asks bribe of 50k . Increase in property and water tax , but no water supply. DMK pushed people to take risk. Even now DMK is neglecting to do real introspection .

@ramya30380 @thekaipullai I am a native Marathi speaker from Mumbai & I didn’t try to impose that language on anyone. Hindi is a pan-India language. It’s a shame that your politicians cultivated a hatred for it for their petty gains so much so that your folks find a foreign language closer to your heart.

Any warmth, optimism and positivity that you have towards Chennai evaporates the moment you try catching a cab after stepping out of the airport Because unlike most cities where you get out, open an app, book a cab and go, in Chennai you have to Haul your luggage in the enervating heat to an overcrowded buggy stand. Then wait for an buggy which takes an eternity to arrive. Into which you are then stuffed like a sardine in a can and driven for 20 mins to a god forsaken "mall" Where you again have to compete with a batallion of tired and hungry travellers and their luggage to get onto an elevator Which will take you 3 floors up to a taxi stand where you hope there is cab available Which will then drive you down those very three floors to take you into the city I seriously cannot comprehend how the supposedly knowledgeable Chennai people messed up something as simple as an Airport cab pick up All of Chennai's aspirations to be a megapolis dies in that gap between the airport arrival and that cab pickup station

@NITINKML @7_5_Cobra While factually correct, its an unfair take nevertheless. A city and its culture is made up of a lot more things than whats being boxed in here. I grew up in Chennai but lived for a significant period in Pune (it was better in many aspacts) - would still pick Chennai over Pune.

@7_5_Cobra It has a closed parochial mindset which discriminates against outsiders. It has a bewildering hypocrisy about liquor and a moral policing culture which is stifling. Not a city which is welcoming to many outsiders.

So my tweet has not settled well with most of the accounts who have commented or replied to my post and many without proper knowledge have labeled me something similar to: 1. Sanghi 2. Drunkard and Womaniser 3. Vadakan/Vandheri 4. Anti-Tamil Nadu/Anti-Chennai 5. Pub Culture Endorser etc. To clarify multiple things: 1. I have not anywhere in my post or in my timeline endorsed alcohol, pub culture for the city. There are many other activities apart from this which contribute significant value from the youth. Your fixation to pub culture or alcoholism has nothing to do with me. 2. I have advocated for the development of Chennai City far more than the accounts which got triggered and considering that I am rage baiting with respect to urban development, infrastructure, technology, civic issues, aviation, transportation etc. For those who don't believe me are free to check the highlights section about my advocacy of Chennai City. I dare anyone to refute this. 3. I literally have no political affiliations and have openly criticised all parties across the political spectrum in TN. Again my twitter timeline lies as proof of it. 4. I am 100% Tamilian who was born in Chennai but was raised outside TN for most of my life. I did my under graduation in core engineering, worked in Chennai's IT sector for 4 years and only in 2024, I emigrated to Australia. I am still registered as a voter in Chennai since 2018 and I have every right to opine on what's wrong and what's good in Chennai and I am doing my job as a responsible citizen. The replies and quotes clearly indicate that people don't have the critical thinking and reasoning. 99% of quotes and replies haven't even logically countered my statements and take criticism without understanding the core logic and intent behind that post. This is the reason why talented graduates look elsewhere for professional and personal growth If you can't take criticism, don't have the ability to question the things which are wrong, engage in constructive debate and are delusional. That's your problem and not mine. I'll continue to advocate what's going good for the city, what can be enhanced to make the city better and what's wrong @AdiSpeaX @KishoreIyer5 @ThatsAarthi @arunkumark86 @UpdatesChennai @athreya49 @missmaddenstein @Puyangan5 @redatmanchester @dmuthuk @saravparth @muthuindiradjit

Chennai holds virtually zero appeal for even for non-resident Tamils who grew up in major metros like Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, or overseas. Having spent my formative years on the West Coast across Mumbai, Daman, Goa, and Gujarat which sensitised me to an urban, highly cosmopolitan lifestyle mindset. But transitioning to Chennai for university feels like hitting a cultural brick wall; the city comes across as incredibly homogeneous, insular, and flat-out boring. The city completely lacks a distinct, independent youth culture. Instead, the social fabric is entirely dominated by an older demographic, conservative boomers and culture kangers who fiercely enforce traditional norms. Tamils outside TN don't do such antics themselves. Because the lifestyle is dictated by elder-approved routines, there is a massive deficit of casual public activities, vibrant nightlife, or engaging weekend avenues to build a high-quality, modern social life. The economic landscape also mirrors this rigid, old-school mentality. Chennai is highly rewarding if you are in the manufacturing or blue-collar sectors, but it is an incredibly difficult terrain for white-collar career growth. The tech ecosystem is overwhelmingly dominated by massive, process-driven IT service companies with strict hierarchies. Outside of a highly concentrated SaaS pocket, there is a severe deficit of aggressively funded, product-based tech companies or global R&D hubs, creating a definitive growth ceiling for ambitious professionals. Over the time, the emigration of highly skilled educated graduates and professionals in TN to overseas or to other cities in India is only going to intensity. It already has started BTW. And people in TN will still continue to remain the same and vote for people in TVK, DMK etc. Even the BJP in TN is the same as the other parties.

An excellent video by @dsureshkumar Much-needed one to debunk fantasy news related to Vijay. I’m glad to note @the_hindu can do incisive journalism about TN politics. Had @the_hindu held the government to account from 2021-2026, the DMK might not have suffered such a heavy loss. I cannot remember one story in @the_hindu that would have made @mkstalin squirm in five years. @nramind made it worse by his unabashed support to the DMK. Did Ram, the champion of free speech, care about PEN & muzzling of dissent in mainstream media as well as on YouTube?

@Ahmedshabbir20 There is no mandate. DMK+ and ADMK+ has the mandate, as much as TVK, DMK allies and ADMK allies have the mandate. One is not superior to the other.

@JayaramArappor The math is not mathing. Why did they put Senthil Balaji in jail, and ED has been asking for permission to pursue him on additional charges. ED also went on a fishing expedition on sand mining and had to give up on censure by the SC. You're a joke.

We are seeing a lot of debate and discussion about the underhand discussions between AIADMK and DMK with background support of BJP. However, this has been amply clear for last several years for those following up DVAC cases of AIADMK corruption. We saw how DMK worked overboard to save several admk corruption cases such as adani coal import scam, kp park scam. Velumani corruption, Ration dhal, palmoil scam and many others. Also DMK not filing FIR in adani coal scam and working with BJP govt to do the 992 crore Christy ration transport scam showed how all of them had a clear underhand dealing when it cme to Corruption. DVAC officials faced pressure not to register or even recomment FIR in many scams. After Thiruma spoke in a interview yesterday, what we have been saying for a few years has come out in the open clearly!

@arivalayam x.com/Karthikravivar…

One of the stupidest things in observing politics is to gotcha on changing dynamics. Tn Raghu's desperation to set a narrative that thr DMK-ADMk deliberations were *under* BJP auspices is an example of this stupidity

While Dalits rightfully have ground to critique the DMK, it seems dangerous to consider anyone defeating the DMK a friend. That's politically naive and historically reckless. 8/10
