i joined s4 @_nightsweekends then I took part in @_buildspace sf2 for 3 months in SF here’s 5 things I learned about building your ideas: 1. just get started. before, i spent a LOT of time overthinking. I had pages and pages of research and ideas. but i would never take any steps forward. buildspace helped me to finally take action and do the things that scared me most. you learn so much more that way. "life begins at the end of your comfort zone" right? 2. setting ambitious (but realistic) goals. I had been working on my idea for over a year, but struggled to charge money. buildspace challenged me to 10x my revenue. from $500 ➡️ $5K in 11 weeks. I didn't know if it'd be possible. thanks to their support, I got pretty darn close: I hit $4K. I ran my first 4-week cohort. and landed a B2B partnership for an offsite at Toyota. the team helped me to think big & believe in myself. let yourself be surprised with how much can happen in a short period of time. 3. learnings happen when you test in the real world. you learn the most in the real world. when I created my offering, I needed to price it. our sf2 principal @amit_ajwani suggested $500. I said "who would pay that?" he said "that's not for you to figure out. put out a stripe payment link and wait to see” so i did. and I got 2 payments in 2 days. turns out, you could spend hours planning hypotheticals in your head or you can go out into the real world. start offering real value. and surprise yourself with what unfolds. 4. you can sell something before you build it. you don't always have to create the product before you start marketing. in fact, selling something before you build it is worthwhile. it shows if there is true interest & willingness to pay. before investing a ton of resources, time, and effort into creating something... market it online & see if people will pay. if you don't get interest, it's a sign you should shift ideas. if you do, the interest will confirm to double down and give you further inspiration. 5. the value of a community that motivates you. I used to work on my idea alone in my room. it was so easy to get stuck & unmotivated. in nights & weekends, we were surrounded by thousands of builders online. in sf2, I could turn to the person next to me. i learned of the value of community. don't be afraid to ask for help. people are excited to collaborate with you. the right people come when you start sharing your ideas.
