What I try to live by now is this: it's ok to enter people's orbit, just be mindful of why you're there. Take frequent stock of your feelings. Take responsibility for how you are affecting others' feelings. Be prepared to communicate HONESTLY every fucking day.

Most millennial gay men in large cities neither want nor could manage a relationship IF THEY TRIED, but they date bc they're bored/want validation and frame themselves as victims when others expect them to take a modicum of responsibility for other people's emotional wellbeing.
