My daughter spent 4 years earning her bachelor’s degree, followed by another year doing research at UC San Diego and after scoring high on the MCAT to get accepted into medical school. After 4 more years of med school, she’ll be competing for residency — a total of 10 years of hard work and massive debt. Meanwhile, she’ll be up against foreign doctors who only spent 6 years in their home countries to become physicians. How is this fair to American students who invest a decade of their lives and hundreds of thousands in debt to become doctors? Why aren’t we putting American doctors first? Who’s going to compensate our kids for this burden? America First means taking care of our own. 🇺🇸

25% of US doctors are foreigners. 28,000+ US medical students graduate per year - 1000+ don't get a residency spot. Of the 44,000+ US residency spots per year, 16,000+ are filled by foreigners! TMB president Sherif Zaafran is a strong advocate for foreign doctors and led the state to pass the DOCTOR Act last session, easing licensing requirements for foreign doctors.

the response to this is simple: please ask my employer when someone applies for a job (citizen or needing visa sponsorship) do they know how many other candiates, including citizens, have applied for that job, and what their qualifications are? the responsibility lies squarely with the employer, not someone applying for a job When an employer sponsors someone for h1b, they need to get the petition approved by uscis. The person applying for a h1b visa need to submit the approved h1b petition to the consulate. If the visa officer has any concern, the question should be asked to the employer.

This gas station clerk took someone’s winning million dollar lottery ticket telling the customer it was worth nothing and threw it in the garbage. When the customer left, he took the ticket out of the garbage and tried to claim it at the lottery office as a win.Problem for him was of course everything had been caught on video. He maintained he found the ticket in the trash so he had rights to it . He was arrested, and the customer got their winning ticket back.!!

🔥🚨DEVELOPING: This Indian man who attempted to scam an elderly widow by convincing her to meet him with $700,000 in gold was met by an undercover agent with hundreds of chocolate coins in metallic gold plastic wrap in Ottawa County, Michigan. Authorities say this gold scam performed by convincing elderly people into believing their social security number has been compromised and that they need to convert their funds to gold and send them to the scammer. The one person charged, 20-year-old Yug B. Chauhan, has a home address in Elmhurst, Illinois. Chauhan is locked up in the Kent County jail with a $100,000 bond and a hold from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Fraud Alert: Tampa, FL — A 30-year-old Indian national was sentenced to four years and three months in federal prison for his role in a large-scale government impersonator scam that defrauded elderly Americans. Jignesh Purshottambhai Vekaria was ordered to forfeit $372,000 in proceeds. India-based call center operators posed as U.S. officials from the Social Security Administration, FBI, and IRS. Using fake badges and titles, they threatened victims, mostly seniors, with arrest or lawsuits over fabricated crimes like drug trafficking or money laundering. Victims were instructed to mail checks or cash to co-conspirators in the U.S. From April to September 2018, Vekaria served as a key intermediary in Florida. He relayed information to “runners” who collected and cashed the victims’ checks, then funneled the fraud proceeds back to the conspiracy leaders while receiving payment for his role. The case was investigated by SSA OIG, IRS-CI, TIGTA, Tampa Police, and FDLE, and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. Full report: oig.ssa.gov/news-releases/…

Bashing Indian IT service companies for not building frontier AI is fair. But they were built for services. The real question is much sharper: Where is Tata’s Qwen? Qwen came from Alibaba — a company smaller than the listed Tata empire. Where is Ambani’s ERNIE? ( Baidu ) Where is Mahindra’s Hunyuan? Where is Adani’s Pangu? Where is L&T’s defence AI foundation model? Where is Birla’s industrial AI model? China’s established corporate giants are building frontier models. Alibaba built Qwen. Baidu built ERNIE. Tencent built Hunyuan. Huawei built Pangu. ByteDance built Doubao. iFLYTEK built Spark. So stop gaslighting people with “India lacks capital.” India does not lack capital. India does not lack engineers. India lacks a billionaire class willing to risk serious money on frontier AI. There is money for weddings, cricket, retail, ports, media, and political access. But when it comes to building India’s Qwen, suddenly everyone becomes a cautious accountant. That is the scandal.

I’m not asking them to build but at least fund local AI companies. Last year @Infosys burned $2 billion on stock buybacks. They may have built Data Center or fund some AI labs using that. And on top of that Nilekani says India shouldn’t build LLMs and Pai wants him to lead AI initiative.
