One of the craziest skies I’ve ever seen, minutes before the tornado warning alert blasted here near Mount Airy, MD. The wind and sky roared, was very likely a tornado very close. Cotton candy color sky right before sunrise this morning. 🌅

@GRMilas @capitalweather @gordonlauphoto This transit duration was .65 seconds, so it’s pretty fast. Pretty much have to set the camera at the highest frames per second it will shoot to capture it.

🌕The moon has been putting on quite a show — even if clouds may steal the spotlight Tuesday morning. On the left, @gordonlauphoto captured the nearly full “Worm Moon” setting behind the Washington National Cathedral early Monday. On the right, @_scottjacobson snapped the International Space Station transiting the moon late last night — a perfectly timed pass. Unfortunately, increasing clouds are likely to block views of Tuesday morning’s total lunar eclipse in the D.C. area. We’ll be watching for any breaks — but odds aren’t in our favor.

Headed east of DC to Davidsonville, MD Saturday night to photograph the ISS @Space_Station transit the moon at 11:43:49pm. Found a little church directly in the center line path to setup, and the clear sky made for a great view of the .65 second transit of the 90+% full moon. Met up with @JTMoore007 who also brought his telescope to take a video of the transit too!
